11" Stainless Steel False Bottom

$39.99

Product Number: S6624

Availability: In stock

The 11" Stainless Steel False Bottom fits our 10 gallon Rubbermaid coolers (tightly). It is a very tight fit in a 10 gallon cooler, which means full coverage on the bottom of the cooler, but removing for cleaning is difficult and can scratch the sides of the cooler. Some brewer's prefer this size over the 10" false bottom. False bottoms are used to convert coolers or plastic buckets into mash/ lauter tuns. Constructed from 304 stainless steel these false bottom's will not float. Dome height is 1/2" for the 9", 10" ,and 12" diameter false bottoms. Comes with a 3/8" barbed 90° brass elbow hose fitting in the center to draw the wort from beneath the dome. Made from stainless steel with 3/32 perforated holes on 5/32 centers. The barb fitting is 3/8 inch.

Just what I needed! Review by Hoont

Product Rating:

I just upgraded my 5 gallon mash tun (cooler) to a 10 gallon mash tun (10 gallon cooler came from home depot).
I consulted with Lindsey (via chat) and she recommended this 11" false bottom with the 10 gallon cooler. It's a perfect fit! It easily fits in and easily comes out for cleaning. Though I haven't tried the 12" it seems like that would be a little too snug if you like to clean your mash tun thoroughly. This 11" is perfect and just what I needed!

I dont have one of my own but I watched a buddy using his this past weekend. It worked great. He, like I, has the 10 gallon home depot round cooler. I am about to order this as soon as Im done with this review.

Perfect for a yellow, 10 gallon igloo cooler Review by Chris D

The question for these devices is always whether it will work for YOUR mash tun, YOUR cooler. I can't answer this for you unless you use a yellow, 10G igloo cooler to mash. If you do, the answer is YES!

John Palmer talks in his book, How to Brew, about the importance of avoiding channeling. You do this, he says, by creating your manifold or false bottom so that it pulls uniformly from the entire bottom of your vessel. When I was considering how to doo a false bottom, I considered building a manifold and decided on this false bottom.

I consistently get in the high 70's for overall brewhouse efficiency, whereas I was getting in the 50's when batch sparging. I changed to fly sparging with this false bottom and rocked the efficiency. Couldn't be happier!

works great in 10gal Igloo Review by Robert

I was not sure of what size to use. After some research, the 11" seemed best for the 10gal yellow Igloo cooler. This has worked very well for me. I first used fly sparging, but recently tried my first batch sparge and had great results.

Better than a Boil Screen Review by Mark

Product Rating:

I used this for the first time this weekend in a 10 gallon Igloo cooler mash-tun. The 11" is the correct size for a 10 gallon round cooler. The perforated plate came with a perfectly flat rim, so there is no circumventing of the grain bed. The 90° SS fitting works well and makes it easy to remove the plate for cleaning, particularly if you used hose clamps on both the 90° fitting and the valve's barb nipple. The wide surface area makes extracting the remaining sugar and dextrin quick. I did a fly sparge with no clogging issues at all. Even a batch sparge should not casue a stuck runoff with this false bottom. I recommend it.
