Best Thermometer Review by Matthew

Reliable, fast reading, easy to use. This thermometer is perfect. And sturdy. When threading the top with twine I pulled that plastic part off. I think that it's supposed to come off or was glued on. Either way it's fast and effective at reading tempuratures. Better than digital.

...nice, but not great. Review by Fast? Accurate??

This is about the fourth similar 'stick' thermometer that I've bought. I can only blame the breakage on myself.
What I do have to complain about is that these glass thermos aren't all that quick, but you expect to gain accuracy when you give up speed, right?
My last one (bought here - looks exactly like catalog page incl. plastic eyelet thingy) wasn't accurate worth a spit. I figure it was off by reading approximately +5 to 6 degrees at 150F. When I realized the problem I verified the issue using two other digitals and one glass floater thermo. ...oh, and a thin bodied batch of what should have been great beer.
Moral of my rant: First, there's going to be the oddball 'bad one' in every product. Second, take a few minutes to verify your thermo using water/ice and boiling water (correct for your altitude, btw).
Brew like you mean to!

It Works Great! Review by Cory

This item does the job just fine. Although I still always use two thermometers because I'm a nut like that, this is the better of the two. I attach most thing in my boil to string tied to my keggle. There is a loop on the end of this for that purpose, which is convenient for me.

I tested it with boiling water, and a cup of crushed ice & water, it's accurate. Its an regular thermometer, so its not going to be lighting fast, but it's not slow. It works as advertised.

Great for calibration! Review by Joe

I know there is already a review on here that has a negative report of accuracy. Let me add another viewpoint.

I really like these lab style thermometers. I have found them to be of the most accurate of any out-of-the-box thermometers. And while I do not use it for actual brewing... (I'm just too clumsy to risk it breaking and ending up with galss in my wort)... I use it to help calibrate my other style thermometers.

Easy to read, easy to use, and a wide reading range in the are where I care most about temperature makes calibration a snap for the gauges I actually use for mashing.

For 6 bucks, I think it is an easy buy to help hone in on the right temperature.

Great thermometer for the price. Works really well and is very durable. Glass is easy to clean and I can stir it in the wort without it breaking.

This thermometer is easy to use and gives accurate readings. It is a lot easier to read than some other thermometers out there. This was the first thermometer I ever owned and I loved using it.

Good to have! Review by Trenton

Product Rating:

I have owned this unit for a few months now and i like it a lot. The Glass seems to be of good quality and cleans easy. My unit is accurate and fairly quick to adapt to temp changes. The glued on end cap is tilted on mine but this doesn't effect the function. As long as you don't drop it, this thing will be around and working longer than you!
