not large enough for port wine

I love the port wine but the 3 gal carboy just isn't large enough. When stirring during the stabilizing step there isn't enough room for to do this even when you remove the 2 plus cups to add the second bag. It seems to be such a waste two have to throw the extra wine away, especially when you are paying $100 a kit. Do you stock a 4 gal carboy? I would rather top the carboy off with additional wine then throwing any away.

I have 2 and use them all the time. Depending on the kit, I sometimes make smaller batches of wine and experiment with additives, oak, etc. Far better to experiment on 3 gallons than 6. Its a little too small for the Selection Speciale kits.

If you are into making larger batches of fruit wine these are great to have. They are a little spendy but as long as you do not drop it or knock it off of a shelf these will last you a lifetime. Glass is extremely easy to clean and much better quality than plastic carboys.

I typically brew 5 gallons of beer and split it into 2 fermentors, and vary some thing like the dry hops, or extract, or steeping grains. These are the right size, though 3.5 would allow more head space.
Being smaller, these are easier to maneuver.

I make fruit wine in small batches and this is just the right size. The glass is thick and durable, and wont scratch like plastic or better bottles. Its also a good size for small scale experiments.

The 3 gallon carboys are good for making small batches of beer, there is plenty of head space and they aren't too heavy to carry. They are also safer to carry since there is less risk they will break and slice you.

I like these carboys. Good value, shipped well, and I like the 3 gallon size as they are easier to handle.

Great Size for a Batch of Wine

I really like this size carboy for making fruit wines. A 1 gallon batch always seems too small. You get 5 bottles from a 1 gallon batch and by the time the wine is getting good, it seems like you have 1 bottle left. The 3 gallon carboy will give you 15 bottles and it isn't too heavy to move when it's full.
