Purpose-designed from head to toe, Big Mouth Plastic features improved strength and durability through a decreased base diameter, punted bottom and 3” thick anti-flex ribs. Equipped with a taller body and smaller footprint, Big Mouth Plastic is ultra-storeable, fitting easily inside a standard bucket to take up less precious brewing space. Constructed from food-grade PET, Big Mouth Plastic features gallon graduation marks for instant volume measurement, plus a punted bottom to efficiently settle out yeast and promote crystal-clear finished fermentations. And, of course, its revolutionary wide mouth eliminates glugging and enables hands-on cleaning for a faster, cleaner clean. Finally, get your hands wet.

Big Mouth Bubbler Plastic comes equipped with a single-port lid plate with lid ring, compatible with the standard small universal carboy bung. Upgrade to a dual-port lid plate for continuous thermowell monitoring in one port to sustain constant ideal fermentation temperatures and take gravity readings without ever removing the lid.

Earth-conscious design. We have thoroughly planned out every last feature of this innovative product, right down to it’s physical construction. After untold amounts of research into the properties of PET plastic, we fanatically chose to make the Big Mouth Bubbler™ with as little plastic as possible while still maintaining a high degree of structural integrity and brute strength. What does this all mean? It means that the impact to our planet Earth is as minimal as possible. We call this a win-win situation. Check out the Plastic Big Mouth Bubbler™ for yourself. You will never go back to a traditional style carboy again.

The Carboy Dryer is compatible with the Big Mouth Bubbler® when used in an inverted position.

Plastic Big Mouth Bubbler 6.5 Gallon Review by Mike

(Posted on 5/25/15)

Product Rating:

I liked this okay but I am not happy with the fact that the lids will not seal !
I had a blow off tube but I never got any bubbling like I do on a normal carboy.
I could never get a good seal on this unit, I tried everything no luck. I hope my batch is not ruined. The plastic is a little too thin and the carboy is hard to pick up, you will need to get a carrier if you order this.

Love it Review by Keith

Product Rating:

Getting ready to order my second BBB, think it is much easier to keep clean vs plastic pails (and doesn't stain or develop scratches that hide nasties).

Some of the other reviewers mention some drawbacks such as the lack of a gasket seal or difficult to pick up without squeezing the seemingly flimsy plastic carboy in; but I feel these are minor as it has turned out to be more durable than I expected when I ordered the first one to test and it doesn't seem flimsy to me at all.

I don't see myself using the pails for anything other than soaking bottles from now on, plus it does take up a bit less floor space in my already too small kitchen!

6.5 gal plastic Big Mouth Bubbler Review by Beerbelly

Product Rating:

I got two of these last year after brewing with glass carboys for over 18 years; I will never go back to glass. They're lightweight, unbreakable, inexpensive, and most importantly, easy to clean. Love 'em for that.

However, the internet is full of complaints about the lids not sealing properly, and I agree. There is no lid gasket; you are relying on the quality of the fit between the lid and the top edge of the carboy. I've had this problem twice, where my airlock or blowoff quits bubbling during primary fermentation. After a bunch of initial hand-wringing, followed by some experimentation, I've decided not to worry about it. I simply spray some Star San on top of the lid after tightening it, and the airlock resumes it's bubbling. I suspect that attempting to over-tighten the blue ring may contribute to the problem also.

Product Rating:

After making my first batch of wine using a plastic bucket primary fermenter I bought one of these. My second try was making hard cidar. I like the fact that I can see what is going on and it made racking off to a secondary carboy much easier. I could see exactly where the lees were. I do however, wish it did not have the bubble design on the interior as well, they hold sediment and they make if harder to clean. I am planning on getting one of the glass Big Mouth Bubblers, they do cost twice as mush but have a smooth surface and should last a life time.

Nice but could be better Review by Capt Greg

Product Rating:

I have now used this for one batch. I like it because you can easily see what is going on. It was very nice to see that even though in reality meant nothing to me. The lid is much easier than the 6.5 bucket. It is not quite as easy to clean as a bucket but still easy. The main drawback I have is how freaking cheap the plastic is. It feels flimsy. I would have gladly paid another $5-$10 to have it made out of more substantial plastic

Product Rating:

Received two of these plastic containers and very happy on first visual check.

Made a batch that first weekend and plenty of room that I did not have to worry about a blow off tube. Transfer to secondary (also a plastic big mount). Works great, been waiting for this product to finally come out. Glad I picked it up.

Worth every penny and no broken glass and missing toes to worry about!!!!

Good but hard to move Review by THoff

(Posted on 7/27/14)

Product Rating:

I really like the design and price, but it's hard to pickup and move and because it's plastic if you squeeze the middle it can push liquid out the top. Overall though it's good, just need to order the strap carrier

Follow Up Review by Redd

Product Rating:

I have only one complaint about this product. There are three rings that are dimpled to look like bubbles. These dimples are on the outside as well as inside the Big Mouth. When cleaning you need to make sure you get into those dimples with your rag or sponge. If the insides were completely smooth cleaning would be easier. Otherwise this is my new favorite fermenter and I'll probably order another soon.

6.5 Gallon Plastic Big Mouth Bubbler Review by Steve

(Posted on 5/27/14)

Product Rating:

I am a traditionalist. However I did give the PLASTIC Big mouth a try. I have finished my first batch and in bottles and sampled. I am very happy with my outcome. No off tastes at all. In fact I can say that the flavor of my batch is very sharp and clean. I am writing this review because tonight I am getting a second one. There are all the obvious positives of light weight and cleaning is a breeze.

Awesome Review by Redd

Product Rating:

Just got mine a few days ago and I already have a batch of beer fermenting in it. It's sturdy and stays fairly rigid with five gallons of beer in it. The lid is tight fitting and secure. A universal bung will fit in the port in the lid. Even wet it stayed in there. Cleaning this should be a breeze.
