My Better Bottle has a big crack in the bottom of it. Didn't bang it or drop it. Don't know why. Last time I used it everything was fine. This time I had cleaner in it and noticed it was wet under it. Sure am glad I seen it before I filled it with wert.
Editor's Note: Send us an email with some pictures and the type of use and cleansing practices you were using. If the bottle was defective we can get you a replacement.

I did a lot of research before going with with the better bottle. I was using 5.5 gal plastic buckets with holes drilled in them for the spigot. One of my spigots broke, and I was looking to go with something else.
I have fermented in this bottle once, and the experience was awesome. First off, going from white plastic to something clear makes for an interesting sight during fermentation. Seeing the bubbles and the fermentation activity was a lot of fun for guests who were interested in seeing the fermentation firsthand.
The bottle is much lighter than glass, which is great when moving while full, though I'd steer clear of that. Pitch your yeast where you want to sit it while fermenting. The bottom of the bottle has some give when full
Racking with the racking adapter and simple-flo valve is completely rad. Yes, it's a slowish drain, but I'm ok with that. The swiveling racking adapter allowed me to pull the last bit of wort off the trub on the bottom without tipping and disturbing the sediment layer.
Coming from buckets, this product is fantastic. I'll be getting more. I have never fermented in glass, but I don't really want to. If I fermented in glass, I'd drop it, and I'd break it. Just how I roll. I really love the product, and I'll be getting another as soon as I can afford it.

I finally decided to upgrade some of my 20+ year old brewing buckets and tried a Better Bottle with the racking adapter. Wow, it was like night and day. Very easy to use, can ferment most wines and meads right in the Better Bottle. Went out and bought two more and now all three are happily fermenting various brews. The racking adapter makes racking (or bottling) very simple and you can draw right down to the sediment without disturbing it, something nearly impossible to do (easily) with a racking cane and siphoning.
Wish I had these back when I started!

The racking adapter makes transferring a piece of cake. Like anything else if you clean it soon after your done using it, clean up is relatively easy too.

I love these because they are light. I have about 6 - 6Gal. containers now for various wines. I keep one empty and rack as needed into the empty. I do my wine aging in these with whatever chips I choose.
Easy to clean. Easy to set up ( buy the install tube for the spigots if you get them with holes! You could find a piece of plastic pipe, but you only need one install tube ever. )
Easy to lift as well. If you have/are thinking of getting a pump/filter, skip the spigot/predrilled model and just go for the plain bottles.
One last item: Do NOT stir out CO2 in a full bottle! Think HS volcano experiment.... Put half into your target container, degas, then move the rest. (Might require two rackings when you degas.)

I bought one bottle a year ago, made homebrewing beer much easier. As opposed to a bucket, i can see whats going on, can see my krausen and how much sediment i have on the bottom. And its better than a standard carboy, as i have awesome control of where im pulling the liquid during siphoning. I just purchased a second better bottle, so now i no long need to siphon back into the carboy from a secondary container. Just connect the two ports and go, no pain in the butt racking cane. For bottling, i got a plastic valve from home depot, with 1/4 inch tubing. Never have to worry about loosing a siphon.

I hate using an auto-siphon, so when I saw the better bottle with racking adapter and valve I knew I had to try it. I find that the valve sticks and is difficult to open/close. to complicate things, the metal ring that came with the valve broke when I was trying to open the valve. Make sure you purge the stopper on your airlock before you open the valve to rack your beer. You also need to remove the valve each time you clean/sanitize otherwise you will get a buildup of bacteria between the wall of the better bottle and the racking adapter. You will also need to buy the spigot installation tool in order to install/remove the racking adaptor.

Once you go better bottle, you never go back! Although they are pricy, they are well worth the investment. Not having to worry about dropping a heavy, slippery, glass carboy ever again is great. Not to mention never having to siphon beer from the carboy again! Make sure to buy some PBW for cleanup.

I have several Better Bottles, both 5g & 6g and with/without the racking adapter and I love them all! I often brew upstairs and have to ferment in a basement so these are a lot lighter to carry down the stairs.
I agree with another reviewer that the valve can be sticky and difficult at times.
I've brewed several dozen batches of beer in these bottles and have had no problems with them. If I need more in this size I will gladly pick up more of them!

Its expensive, but worth it, saves me loads of time. I clean with PBW and small towel, no problem. Racking is easy. I bought 2 more so now I have 3.
