The first 2 cayboys I received were broken in transit. Midwest was great; replacing them within 1 week. Great customer service! My brother in law was so impressed he is ordering 2 for himself.

Great Glass Carboy
Review by Scott W

The carboy is what you would expect, a glass carboy... However, it is nice and heavy, pretty thick and seems great. I have always been a fan of the glass over plastic, despite the big weight difference.
No scratches or cracks from shipping - though it was very well packaged by Midwest Supplies. Overall, a great buy.

I was afraid they would break on the 1000 mile mail-order journey, But they were well packed. My local shop wanted 20.00 more than Midwest, so on my total order I saved more despite shipping!

Carboy arrived in perfect condition. Price through Midwest is great. Have received all orders through Midwest in less than a week with regular shipping. Having two carboys is very helpful.

Thick glass, just don't be dumb and drop it. Treat glass with respect and its the best way to age your wine and beer.

Fantastic for Primary Fermentation
Review by Richard

I recently upgraded from using the plastic buckets to these large carboys for primary fermentation. I've already done two batches in primary with these and couldn't be more happy with the results.
Starting with the same batch-size as I would use in a bucket (5.5-6'ish gallons depending on boil loss), these have *plenty* of head space for more active fermentation's.
I have self-drilled a couple of solid rubber stoppers to fit a 3/4" hose tightly to use as blow-off for the first few days of fermentation...but have yet to see the need. Neither of the beers I've done in these as primary has needed it; but I do ferment in a temp-controlled chest-freezer at the bottom end of ale-fermentation temps; and when I do my lager next weekend I'll bump it down to the appropriate lager temps. Keeping it cool always slows down the fermentation to prevent the crazy overactive, krausen forming situations.
Bottom line, they're quality glass carboys, tons of space to primary 6-gallons of wort, and are *easy* to clean & sanitize.
Highly recommended.
Cheers, and happy brewing!

This is a great carboy for making wine in. I have not had any problems with this carboy when it has been shipped or during the process of wine making. I suggest this product.
