This thing is great, it even has a little tab that allows you to hook it over the rim of your plastic bucket to strain. Also fits perfectly in glass carboys. I bought this along with my starter kit and I'm glad I did.

Good, but beware of pellet hops

This funnel strainer is well made and works just fine. Beware of pellet hops. If you do not bag them separate it will slow the funnel down to a trickle.

Works Fairly Well

Works great for straining, but if you are not careful with the sediment in the bottom of the brew kettle, you can clog the strainer quickly. Pour slowly and don't be in too much of a hurry and this strainer will work very well.

Don't use for a heavy hopped beer

Purchased this to help straining out the hops. Bad choice. First problem is that I'm using a bucket for primary fermenter, though it has a lip for the bucket if you pour it too quickly the strainer will fall into the beer. Next is that I was brewing an IPA with 3 different hops and the stainer was quickly over burdened by the amount of hops. I found myself having have to strain the strainer in order to get the beer through. As one reviewer said, once I took my time it worked okay.

Use Muslin Bags for Hops....

Brewed Hop Head Double IPA, using four kinds of hops is too much for the strainer. I ended up just siphoning the wort . Next time I'll use a muslin bag for the hops and try it again.

Strainer Clogs Easily, but great funnel

If your considering this for straining, look elsewhere, even the smallest amount of hop sediment will cause the strainer to clog and result in the funnel taking forever to drain. Luckily the strainer is removable, so I no longer use it. I've started using boiling bags to keep sediment to a minimum.
As a funnel however, this is great. I use a carboy as my primary fermenter, so this is a great way to just dump the wort into the carboy. The high back help prevent spill over when pouring your wort into a carboy. As someone suggested, you can hang it on the inside of a plastic bucket too... though I can't imagine why since the strainer clogs so easily.

You can overburden the strainer if you pour too fast. The strainer works well and the funnel design has many benefits. I pour through a slightly larger mesh sieve placed in the funnel to keep the funnel strainer from clogging, it reduces the number of times that I have to stop and clean the stainer.

TOO good.

The strainer is extremely fine mesh, which means it does a great job of straining out almost everything from your wort. However, as previous reviewers have stated, if your hops are still in your wort, you'll end up with a backed-up funnel full of wort. The sediment totally clogs the strainer and won't let wort through. I had to use a spoon to constantly stir the strainer so that it could pass through. I ended up removing the strainer and the funnel worked great after that. I actually didn't think it fit quite right in the 6.5 gal carboy. It seemed very shaky as I was pouring into it. I would have liked to see it fit all the way down into the carboy.
