The HopRocket is an incredibly innovative, feature packed hop infusing tool! Not only can it be used as a hopback, it doubles as an in-line hop infuser (Randalizer) for your beer dispensing system and TRIPLES as an in-line filter! Unlike competitive units made from simple kitchen-ware fitted with a basic false bottom, the HopRocket has been designed from the ground up as a purpose-built, heavy duty, hopback and hop infuser. This clean sheet approach means truly superior performance and features:

* Pressure tight - up to 40 PSI operation!
* Holds up to 4oz of whole hops - 2X the competition!
* 100% stainless construction & silicone seals
* No need to monitor wort level - will never overflow and spill like competitive units!
* Fully enclosed system from brew pot to fermentor means no volitile hop aromas are lost!
* Inlet at the bottom allows air to automatically purge to reduce hot-side aeration

I was skeptical at first, but it looked to damn cool to resist buying. My first time using it, it did clog up, but it was completely my fault. You really have to resist the urge to overload the HopRocket. Giving your kettle a good whirlpool before draining it helps, as well. If you have a big glob of pellet hops draining out, it WILL clog the HopRocket.

For the price, and its limited capacity, its not worth it. You can't pack in the hops or it will clog. But why pay that much for something than can only hold 5 ounces of hops? A rich mans toy.

Its well built and top quality construction, no complaints there. Its perfect for while hops. It has one potential flaw, it's limited capacity. This works perfectly well for beers without a lot of hops. If you like IPAs and want to use a lot of hops, this is not the piece of equipment you need. If you like a nice Lager, or Brown ale, that only needs a few ounces, this is great.

We use a therminator for chilling and found that we're better off using hop additions at flame out instead of this (basically does the same thing). We will try to set it up as a randalizer sometime, but it really is a rich man's toy as said before.

If you're just using 1-2 oz of hops, it'll work ok, but I prefer the short transfer times without it in place.

It does a good job of imparting an intense hops aroma because there is no where for the volatile aromatic compounds to go, so they stay in the wort. It cant block up so don't use it with pellet hops.
