A Belgian-style Witbier thats tart, spicy, and hazy gold. This beer owes its uniqueness primarily to the yeast, we strongly recommend using one of the liquid strains for this beer. It is light in body but has significant malt flavor underpinning all the other flavors, lawnmower ale with a twist-very refreshing. Our ingredients for this recipe include: 3 lb. Wheat DME, 2 lb. Pilsen DME, 8 oz. Caramel 10L, 8 oz. Flaked Wheat, 4 oz. Caravienne malt specialty grains, 1 oz. Willamette pellet hops, grain bag, priming sugar, and yeast.

Easy drinking, wide appeal Review by OHara

Product Rating:

A good choice to expose BMC drinkers to the real thing. Good flavor, and not to strong or hoppy. Normally I wouldn't expect wheat in a Blonde ale, but it still tastes good.

Blondes have more fun Review by Macaille

(Posted on 10/31/13)

Product Rating:

The statement is true, blondes really do have more fun! This beer has been a crowd-favorite. Down here in Florida, it's easy to drink and very refreshing on a hot day. We will make this again, no doubt. Clean a crisp taste with depth of flavor. Not too strong, not too light - just right. You won't be disappointed by this blonde.

Rich Blonde Review by AHECK

We brewed this according to the directions with no modifications and it turned out rich and strong. The color turned out darker than expected but did not affect the flavor. Nice, spice-like undertones. Easy to make.

I like lighter colored beers, so this was a must. I used white labs yeast and it performed excellent. Fermentation was fast and complete. Beer was excellent. Light in color with a nice balance with the hops.

Smooth Delicious Brew! Review by Chris

Product Rating:

This a fairly light bodied, smooth, and easy to brew. It's as bout as straight forward as it gets. Don't let that turn you away because it turns out to be great! Especially for the summer time, when I brewed it

Belgian Strawberry Blond Review by Fozzman

(Posted on 8/13/13)

Product Rating:

Don't let the name of this kit fool you. This is not a Blond Ale, this is a Belgian Wit Beer. For me, the wheat gives a slightly sweeter taste and the hops used are slightly less bitter than most Blond ales I have tried. I knew this when I purchased the kit and I am very pleased with the results. Be careful adding any flavoring as this is a very light tasting beer. A small amount of extract can go a long way. I added 4oz of strawberry extract and although it came out amazing, the next time I brew this I will probably only add 2oz of extract. As with all Midwest kits, this is easy to brew and yields excellent results. If you are a fan of Belgian light ales and Wit beer you will not be disappointed with this kit.

Oops... Review by Graham

(Posted on 6/25/13)

Product Rating:

I brewed this using the Wyeast, and everything went well in the primary. Initial flavors were right where I thought they would be. Then I added fresh/cut/frozen strawberries (my wife's request) to my secondary - which reinvigorated fermentation and the berries clogged my blow-off tube. So when I found berries all over my walls/ceiling, I quickly sanitized the 6.5gal plastic fermentation bucket I recieved in my starter kit (that I'd never used) and put the remaining wort and berries in it. The rest of the process, including bottling, went without issue. The beer has a nice color, a good head on it, and I can taste the berries on the finish. Unfortunately, I can also taste the bucket - which my friend tells me resulted from my rush to transfer my exposed wort without first washing the bucket thorougly with cleanser. Lesson learned...well, two at least.

That said, I will buy this kit again at some point, and try to brew it according to the directions. I do love a Belgian blonde, and the initial flavors were very promising.

Very light and citrus-y, with low malt flavor. Great for Summer. Review by Ben

Product Rating:

I was surprised how light this beer turned out to be, both in color and flavor. It was fully carbonated in two days and is incredibly drinkable. The malt profile is somewhat hidden, but the lightness and citrus with carbonation make it almost champagne-like.
