We have revamped this equipment kit to incorporate Plastic Carboys. **Do not use hot water over 120 degrees with the Plastic Carboys. These are becoming more and more popular for their many advantages over glass. In addition, we have upgraded this equipment kit to include a Fermtech AutoSiphon, the easiest method of starting a siphon. The components of this kit represent a considerable savings compared to being purchased separately. This equipment kit is sure to keep you brewing for years to come. Note: this kit no longer includes the carboy brush. It is not advised to use a carboy brush, as it will scratch the inner surface of the plastic bottles.

Good price. Better bottles light weight ez clean. Perfect for anyone going into home-brewing. Only missing beer bottles and a kit. Price wise cheaper is always better but.... this is as best it can get and a good value

I should have asked more questions Review by Kit means kit

I decided to go with Midwest because of the lower prices of the kit even though shipping was more expensive. I assumed (wrongly) that they put together their own kits, but in actuality, its a namebrand kit, and they put in an extra better bottle. I believe if I would have spent more time looking around, I could have gotten a few more items in a kit (like a spoon, bottle drainer, etc) for the same price.

What I did like was the beer making kits though. I went with the dry yeast, and it was active in a day and done in three. I still let it sit for the week, before moving to the secondary fermenter.

I think they could very easily include a free how to guide DVD. DVD's are a dime a dozen. Shoot, this kit didn't even come with the book. I'm not upset with them, but disappointed in myself for not doing a better job in my research.

+ they did provide a 5% military discount after I provided proof of service

- shipping rates were too high. I know they can do better without affecting prices too much. There is a fine line between offering services and gaining/loosing customers.

+ beer ingredient kits are top-notch

+ customer service

- Homebrew kit is just an ordinary namebrand kit that many other stores sale.

Great kit. I already brewed two batches in the last 3 weeks. Perfect for someone that has enough bottles (or can drink enough beer to get bottles). No complaints so far.

Very Good Kit Review by Liquid

This is the kit I started with. I really like the better bottles. I opted for the better bottles with the spigots but do not really like them. It is far easier to use a racking cane. The cleanup is easier as well. I have since added two more plain better bottles and a bucket cover to use my bottling bucket as another primary as I have gone to kegging.

I have spent quite a bit of time looking around on the web to find a store that has good prices and great selection, Midwest is definitely that. What I did not expect was the excellent customer service that I experienced when ordering from these guys!

As far as the kit goes, I think it's a great way to get started in brewing at home, and you are using gear that can be trusted to work well for a long time to come!
