Brewing Starter Plus Kit

This is absolutely the best deal that I can find out of all the websites. It has everything. My boyfriend loved it! Only problem was that one of my items was damaged so make sure you check everything and report it back to Midwest. Besides that, great deal!

I chose this kit because it really does include everything you need to get started in home brewing, including the 5-gallon brew kettle. The brew kettle has thinner walls than other stock pots I already had, but I didn't have anything large enough for brewing. The carboy is essential as well since just about every beer is better with the secondary fermentation. This kit is the way to go if you don't have any equipment and want to get all your supplies in one package.

Maybe I am just into Legos, but if there was some sort of booklet that told me step by step with pictures on what each piece in the kit was/how to put together, I would have been more happy and less likely to break things.

Excellent value and everything needed to get myself started. Was able to brew the day the box arrived! Box came in faster than expected. I would recommend this as a starter kit for others!

My order came very fast. I ordered on Sunday night and got it by Friday afternoon! I do have some complaints though. This kit is not complete. After watching the DVD that comes with it I was left thinking, is that it? The kit does not have a thermometer or a funnel that the DVD says is needed. I was expecting to open the box and brew some beer but it will have to wait until tomorrow.

I would suggest a Everything ++ kit for those of us that really want event the most basic things "like thermometers and funnels" to come with the kit.

Also, the directions are really vague over a lot of things.

This kit is great. The price is right. The beer is tasty. I enjoy cooking and beer so what a great combo. Go ahead and spring for a thermometer and you will be all set to brew right from the box. Be wary though you will be purchasing much more equipment because this isn't your regular hobby it quickly becomes an obsession. I have since ordered another carboy, wort chiller, bottle tree, loads of stuff really. I now double brew every other week and Midwest is the ONLY supplier i use!

kit does lack a few pieces which should be found in any cooks kitchen. would have liked to had a little more instruction, but was able to get by. very well put together kit for getting started. thank you all, Midwest brewing.

This kit does have everything you need to get started and actually make a batch. That said, there are a couple things that you might want to add. First off, a dial thermometer is probably needed to be able to measure temperatures better without having to guess. Next, a nylon bag is great at keeping out sediment for when you move the wort. Also, a funnel with strainer helps with preventing the sediment from moving with the wort too. Other than that, I love this kit and it has been fun using so far. I like that it has several great items in it already. Can't wait to keep building on it.

After some research on different websites I purchased this kit. Promt delivery! I opened the boxes and discovered the bottle capper was missing...called and they Fed Exed me one...No big deal. The glass carboy is nice. I'm completely new to this beer making process so im not sure what to expect of the kit or complain about in this review..ha. After studying the book, watching dvd, and reading the instructions I began. Im sure I made some mistakes with my first batch but that is to be determined since its still in the secondary fermenter (carboy). I did not have a thermometer in my kitchen so I should have bought one. I tried to use a regular thermometer but it wouldn't read past 109 degrees....needs to go to 155 degrees. Other than that you will be ready to start. I recently just ordered my second beer kit (octane IPA), bottle washer, bottle caps, and nylon bag. I ordered the bag because the one that came with the kit let alot of sediment out...which may have been my fault because I had a small boil over?? I have called midwest a couple times for advice and they have been awesome. Great company so far and good luck to all future brewmasters. Cheers!
