I think the Briess line is just plain OUTSTANDING. It is a great base and will be my #1 choice for any beer I brew. I still may use another specialty malt but I am completely thrilled with the results of the Briess.

A very good malt to use in just about any extract brew you'd like to do. Great results in every brew I've ever done with it.

This is my favorite liquid malt to use. Consistent from batch to batch, makes replicating the same recipes very easy every time.

I have used this to make a couple of different beers now, and they turned out great. The quality is excellent! The price is better than what I can find anywhere else. I plan to start buying it by the case so I don't have to order as often.

I've used this extract as a base malt for many different types of beer. It's high quality, fairly priced, and consistent. The 6lb jug offers more bang for your buck than the 3.3lb jug.

I love the gold 6 pounder. I start most of my beers with it and add a little something extra from there. The 6 pound container is the best buy as well. Definitely recommended.

A Really Good LME...

When it comes to Extract Brewing, the quality of each ingredient is incredibly important, none more so than the malts. After using the Briess Gold LME in a number of kits with pleasing results, I am now using it as a standard for my own recipes. Great fermentibility. Great Quality. The only downside to any liquid malt extract is a slight darkening of the beer which continues over time, as well as the challenge of obtaining that desired perfect FG - all the more reason to allow plenty of fermentation time, including utilization of a secondary to not only help with clarity and taste, but attenuation. Remember, liquid malt has its limitations, mostly imposed by free nitrogen and unfermentable dextrins, but, balancing your wort with grains will not only add body, but, flavor as well. Cheers!

A really good malt extract...

While extract brewing has a couple limitations such as color and maintaining it, mostly caused by limited nitrogen - the advantages are otherwise huge. I've become a big fan of extract brewing, and the Briess Golden is a really good LME made from Base and Carapils malts which has respectable fermentability and works as a wonderful malt for any number of beers. Getting that perfect FG can be a trick with extracts due to unfermentable dextrins, but, with good yeast, patience, and secondary fermentation - it can be nearly achieved with some recipes and quite successfully with others. Cheers!!
