Great for light colored brews

I was absolutely thrilled when I first learned that Midwest started carrying this malt extract. I like styles of beer that range from super pale to tar black. However, when brewing my own, I like to experiment. I found this malt to be great for making very light colored pale ales. I have a lot of friends who won't even try anything if it's remotely "dark beer". Using this malt allowed me to make a flavorful beer without scaring the people I share it with. Turns out, they actually liked the kick of hops and are now branching out, lol. Thank you Midwest, and thank you Briess!

Good in a Lagger. Works well in pale ales too.
Because of DMS you need to boil pilsen grain 90 minutes. This saves you that effort. This is a great liquid extract.

I've used this in Lagers that have come out well. Pilsner malt is harder to use because of the DMS problem, so having this in liquid form is pretty handy.

Lager LME

Good quality, fresh, and I like the taste. I warm it up by placing it in a pot of hot water (not on a flame, and not boiling). This makes it easy to pour out, and I add boiling water to get out any remaining syrup.

Alternative to Pilsner Grain

As an unhopped LME, this is a nice option to keep in mind when brewing light lagers. For my first attempt I made a partial mash Czech pilsner using both this and some pilsner grain, and the result was absolutely outstanding. However, if you're already experienced enough as a homebrewer to venture into lagers, you're practically ready to also move to allgrain, which would make this product unnecessary and about twice as expensive.

This is a nice extract to use with some of the lighter beers. I've used this as a base for some different versions of pale ales. Nice and crisp.
