good kit. Finished product tastes better than the wine from the local store. I think it competes well with some of the local micro vineyards.

Not a big merlot fan...but this is one of the best merlot kits I have tried. Be sure to let it sit in bottles for 9 months....the age helps the flavor.

Another wine to age Review by Chris

Product Rating:

Picked up this kit to build up my inventory of better wines to age. I made the kit per instructions with teh exception of ageing it in a carboy for several months before bottling. At bottling time it tasted very good even though it was young. The plan is to let this age for at least a year and a half before opening a bottle. After tasting at bottling it may be hard to wait.

Picked this kit up and bottled after letting it age in a carboy for 4 months. Tasted a bit young and sweet, but shows promise. The plan is to let it age for a minimum year and half before opening a bottle. The original kits are a step up from the VR kits and with some aging yield a great wine.

I have made this several times and I always keep some on hand.
It is much better than what many restaurants serve.
I have several compliments from friends and family saying they can't
believe I made it.
Best is you wait a minimum of six months.

not even bottled yet and awesome - not average chalky merlot -- the 1118 yeast may have something to do with it--- kept a warm primary fermentation and that was key -- ie 35 c

Sweet Review by ek080296

Product Rating:

Have tried this monthly since 3 months. At 3 months, definitely too young. About 5 months, was drinkable, but has a sweet first impression. It is now 7 months and I'm beginning to think it's not going to change much more. It still has a sweet beginning, but after sitting in a decanter for awhile, it becomes drinkable. I'm thinking of trying it chilled. This is not your normal merlot if that is what you are looking for.
