I use these to remove that chloramine from my water before brewing. Just throw tap water (if it tastes good) into a bucket/carboy with a crushed tablet and in 24hrs your water will be ready to use. Save money on buying water. remember to crush the tablet before adding it as it is hard to dissolve.

If you make wine you gotta have Campden tablets. 1-5 gallon batches are simple, 1 crushed tab per gallon to kill off bacteria, then the same before bottling to help stabilize. Pot Meta in powder form is fine too, but I feel more for the large wineries who need tons at a time.

Many municipalities use Chloramine to treat their water, and it doesn't evaporate when left exposed to air. Use these Campden tables to remove it.

I use it to kill off or at least hold down the growth of wild yeast and bacteria in my must. I crush 1 tablet per gallon. It also removes chlorine, so your wine will taste better.

I like these tablets because as a pre-measured dose, they eliminate the need of measuring or weighing the amount of so2 to be added to must or wine. A small mortor and pedestal is a convenient and easy way of crushing them into powder.

I crush 1 tablet per gallon of wine to preserve and prevent further fermentation. It also removes Chloramine if you use it for Brewing water, saving you money. So it has multiple uses.

I usually add these when I force carbonate my skeeter pee and cider. I add a couple crushed tablets, stir it lightly. Transfer to a keg, carbonate for a couple weeks and fill my bottles using a bottle filler and very low pressure from the keg (2-3 lbs)
Works well and I can take the carbonated beverages wherever I want.

Wish I knew about these sooner

I had heard of campden tablets, but thought they were only for wine making. I wish I had found these sooner. I had been using a carbon filter in my refrigerator to remove chlorine from my brewing water.
I didn't realize that carbon filtering wasn't very effective on chloramine.
I use half a tab crushed in 5 gallons of tap water at the beginning of my brewing preparations. Less than 3 cents to remove the chloramine from my water. It transformed my homebrew.

I bought a pound when I realized these tabs were not a one trick pony. I use them for the standard purposes of killing wild yeast from my wine (1 tablet crushed per gallon) and preserving my wine (1 tablet crushed before bottling wine). Also for removing chloramine from my brewing water. (1/2 tablet crushed per about 5 gallons of water and wait 24 hours). These are also great because there is no measuring like is required the powder.
