Growing in Illinois Review by Joe

    Product Rating:

I have purchased some Tetnang rysones from Midwest. In the harsh Illinois winter they survived..One thing for sure when they mentioned that the rysones are evasive believe it. After one year they are popping up everywhere. The first year I managed to get close to 5 oz from 2 plants.

I received my rhizome faster than I was expecting, it arrived still moist and with plenty of white "eyes." Looking forward to plenty of fresh hops, for years to come.

My rhizomes just arrived and they look great! I've tried growing them with rhizomes handed over from a fellow brewer, but these look way better. I haven't planted them yet, but will update when I have more information. Shipping was so fast, and the service was great.

    Looking good,eh,Chico? Review by Carl

First, kudos to MWS and USPS,for their quick and courteous service in handling my back-ordered rhizomes, once MidWest Supplies had received the inventory and immediately shipped the product. According to the time stamps;I received my rhizomes within 48 hrs:over a weekend. Over a Federal Holiday.
Second,I ordered 4 sets of four each of different hop rhizomes. All 16 Rhizomes were of high quality, viable and well-moistened. All had either sprouts or root buds present. All are planted and heeled-in.
Lastly,I own and operate a small single-family farm and orchard. We're located in Florida's,"Panhandle." Most of my neighbors are farmers. I know and understand what quality product is;what market values and forces are and also what price the market will bear. As far as I'm concerned; this product meets or exceeds the market points formerly described above. Time can only be the judge as to performance of product;as per future review.

Cascades are strong growers Review by Michael

Received these as a birthday gift. They look pretty sad when you get them, just a twig with a couple buds sticking out. We planted the 2 rhizomes pretty shallowly but covered them with rich mushroom compost. They grew really well the first year, producing almost 5 dry ounces each. We watered regularly and had them grow on a leaning trellis with good air circulation. I think it's important to train them to grow up and out and also to cull vines, selecting only a few for each root segment.

a game of chance Review by 612hophead

I bought 3 rhizomes last year and had them set for store pickup as I am local and to avoid the shipping. Although I had received a confirmation email that my rhizomes had arrived, when I showed up to pick them up, they only had part of my order because they had sent the rest out of the shipment for mail orders. Understandable, I suppose, but I had taken time out of my day to drive there specifically to pick them up. They said they would receive another shipment in a few days. So I returned in a few days to pick up my rhizomes. When I received them, they were the last ones available and were some of the most sickly looking rhizomes I've ever seen. None of them made it through the spring. I have purchased other rhizomes from Midwest and they've been fine, but based off this last experience I will be purchasing my rhizomes from another local company that I've had better success with.

A lot for a root Review by Martin

I have two of these growing in Mn. Got about 4 ounces from two plants, but I think the price for a piece of root should be a little lower.
