Great kit Review by JR

(Posted on 12/24/09)

Product Rating:

This was my first venture in the clone beer kits. Directions were easy to follow. Tried it after 2 wks in the bottle and was GREAT! Compared it to the real Newcastle and my brewing friends could not tell the difference. They actually picked the homebrew as the better.

Good Kit Review by Colin

Product Rating:

I brewed this Kit as my second Brew ever and everyone who tried it absolutely loved it. I didn't get it exactly like New Castle but I think that was more my fault than the kits, either way it tasted Great!

Nice Brown, but not Newcastle Review by Bill

Product Rating:

I made this kit for a friend who loves Newcastle. In side by side comparison the kit does not taste like Newcastle. It's good, but was missing the sweet/malty taste. I did carbonate with Kreamy-X, so maybe that had something to do with it.

Loved it. Review by Mike P.

It tasted good, but did not taste like Newcastle . I think it was over hopped a bit but it was a good beer.

Great beer if modified a little Review by Jekyll

Product Rating:

This was my very first kit, and like a newbie I screwed it up, but the results were so beautiful, this kit is so worth it if you just modify it slightly. My modifications were the following - when it's time to add the DME, add 1lb of corn sugar to the w0rt. 12hrs after the yeast has been added boil 1/4 of honey and water and add to the primary. When it's time for bottle conditioning add 16 oz Belgian brown sugar instead of corn sugar.

Very nice kit. Review by Joe

Very nice kit. I've ordered my second Old Castle kit and it is fermenting. The first batch was a big hit. Highly recommend this kit for a great beer.

Fooled my friends Review by Thomas

Brewed it as I usually do, but kegged and bottled. Kegged was great after a few days. Bottled needed a lot longer than was advised to get it to the right consistency and style. I drank this brew more often than any I've ever brewed.

Gets even better with age... Review by Rudy

This is one of the best kits so far I have made. 2 weeks after bottling, this beer had many distinct flavors, but after 2 more weeks in the bottle, everything finally blended together. Now 8 weeks after bottling this is definitely lip-smackin' tasty!!
