My daughter, who was very eager to make her own orange sodapop, took one sip, wrinkled her nose, and said "cough syrup". After taking a taste, I had to agree.
(This wasn't a problem with fermentation - we made a syrup to add to force-carbonated charged water.)
It'd be drinkable, for very small children who mostly want sweet, but for anyone with a discerning palate, it's not going to be a pleaser.

This stuff is so sweet you can barely taste the orange. Maybe it would be better if you added far less sugar than the recipe calls for. It carbonated up just fine and we did boil the sugar water as instructed. We made it the same day we purchased the yeast and let it sit long enough for the yeast to do its work on the sugar.

Try reducing the sugar by 1/3 or 1/2. It also needs more orange flavor. Maybe try zesting an orange peel.

Did not like this much at all. We cut down on sugar to fix things...it helped, but not a cure. We found some cheap pineapple flavoring to mix in with our 2nd batch...it was better, but I think the extract is the problem.

I do not like this flavoring. To me, it taste like cough syrup. While trying different methods to adjust for taste, I was unable to please my desire for an good orange soda. I will look at a different brand.

I use this yeast for carbonating my soda. It always carbonates if you keep it at room temperature. Unlike wine or beer, I've never had a problem with this yeast for soda carbonation.
