Chilean Carmenere (Selection International)

$119.99

Product Number: 7180

Availability: In stock

Originally grown in France, Carménère was presumed to be extinct after a destructive Phylloxera plague in 1867 until it was recently discovered to be thriving in Chile. This varietal is deep crimson, with dark cherry aroma, red fruits and berry notes running to a smoky, spicy finish with notes of dark chocolate and tobacco. With medium body and moderate yet gentle tannins, Carménère drinks well young and improves with age.

Chilean Carmenere Review by CampWichita

Product Rating:

Just finished bottling it today. I'm sitting back and enjoying a glass right now. I'm amazed on how great it is at this stage. I can't wait to see what it tastes like in a month, 3 month......and 6 months (not sure I'll even make it to 6 months).

Deep red color with a medium body Review by Ilana

Product Rating:

Softer tannins than in a Cabernet Sauvignon, nice fruity aroma.
Maybe reminiscent of chocolate.
I drink this young, because I have read that it does not age well.

This is my "House Wine" Review by Casa de Doug

Product Rating:

Excellent easy drinking red. The nose on this wine is fantastic. The taste is awesome. Carmeneres drink well young due to the low tannins and this is a great wine to make as a first batch to give you something to drink while you're waiting for that Cabernet to age. I keep this wine in my wine rack at all times.

Nice wine, exceptional taste Review by Capn

Product Rating:

It makes a nice tasting medium bodied red wine, with a fruity aroma. Its not as harsh as some of the less expensive kits, due to the tannins. This type of wine doesn't need to age so drink it young.
