Citric Acid

Citric Acid can be used in sanitizing solutions to lower the pH, which will make the SO2 level more effective. It is also used to increase acidity at a ratio of 0.1% for each teaspoon per gallon in wine. Be careful with how much you add to your wine because you will get a very tart flavor if you use to much.

Product Rating:

This works well to help lower the pH of wine. Measure well because unlike other acids this can change the wines flavor.

Add acidity to Wine and Mead Review by Dobson

Product Rating:

When I add acid, I add mostly Citric, with a touch of Malic and Tartaric to round it out. I wouldn't dream of doing this without a pH meter.

pH adjustment Review by Huber

Product Rating:

I use several acids to adjust my Wines pH rather than rely on a blended powder, so I have more control. Citric acid is noticeable above a not so low threshold so add a little at a time in a sample then scale up.

Use it for wine making Review by OD

Product Rating:

I use a mixture for wine making, to adjust the pH. I mix it with Malic and Tartaric acid based on the acid testing kit results. Many of the bases I use work best with Citric acid so I use it in higher proportions.

Great for brewing. Review by Greg

Product Rating:

This is a good/necessary product to use in making invert sugar which is a good addition to beers. Invert sugar has the advantage over regular corn sugar is that you may use more before you run the risk of the cidery flavor that corn sugar can add to your brew. Very nice additive to beer if you wish to up your alcohol with little to no flavor change.

Use it to acidify your wine Review by Ilana

Product Rating:

This makes a good base. I use mostly Citric acid, not as much tartaric and malic acid when making a base to acidify my wine.
The flavor comes out better this way.

Does what it says Review by DC

Product Rating:

This is your basic citric acid. Does what it says, adds acidity to your wine. I recommend acid blend, this and tartaric acid, though, for a little bit more well rounded acidity and flavor.
