I now own two of these. They are perfect for easy transfers to your carboy. I've run several batches through, and have not had a single leak during fermentation.

Truly Reliable Spigot

I have two bottling buckets with Drum Tap Spigots and like their reliability. In fact, I wouldn't hesitate to use one of my bottling buckets as a primary with no concern for a leaking spigot. The only thing you must make sure of is that the nut on the back side of the spigot is tight. Cheers!

If you assemble it correctly (put the gasket outside) and tighten it, it's reliable. Easy to use, no leaks. I use it on my bottling bucket.

First - it's very reliable and wont leak. I've never had a problem, assuming I have put the gaskets on. For $2 extra, you get a superior tap.
Second - if you brew sour beers, you need separate plastic equipment, such as a bottling bucket. I do my primary fermentation in my bottling bucket for two weeks using this tap. Then a rack to a carboy and add in the Sour Beer bugs like Pediococcus. When done (months later) I rack back to my bottling bucket.
So this drum tap allows me to use my separate bottling bucket as a fermentation bucket. It thus saves me space and having to have yet another bucket.
A good investment for an extra $2 over a regular tap.

I like this type of spigot because its precise, turn the know and your flow rate is steady, without risk of knocking a lever. I've had no problems with leaks using this spigot, either.

I make sure I tighten everything and I have never had any leaks. The nice thing about the drum tab is it wont get bumped open, and it lets me use the bottling bucket as an emergency fermentor if I need it.

I like the spigot a lot and only have one criticism.
It would be nice to have installation instructions. What diameter hole and how far up from the bottom of the Ale Pale to drill.

This spigot is reliable - it doesn't leak. There is nothing to go wrong or accidentally knock open. In an emergency you can ferment in your bottling bucket if you have a drum tap spigot. You then transfer to your carboy for secondary.

It doesn't leak, and doesn't get knocked open. Just make sure you use the gaskets and tighten them.

Works like your faucet outside. I like that it has a tight seal and does NOT drip. Hose lines fit easily on the end too.
