For anyone starting homebrewing, I think these are must haves. Sure you can do without them, but they make everything so much easier and more convenient. To price them separately you'd be spending a lot more. The only issue I had was when it arrived. My chiller was bent at the 90 degree in/outlets. They were pointed straight down, crimping the tubing. I was able to bend them back without any damage luckily. I think a little more care should be put into packing so no damage is caused.

This is a good purchase. If you are getting an upgrade kit, this is the one to get. It has a lot of useful equipment that makes your brew day much easier. The quality isn't top notch, but it is perfect for a new brewer.

Overall this upgrade kit was worth the investment.

The book How To Brew is FULL of great information for new or experienced home brewers, so the fact that this book was in there made me stoked..

The only thing you may run into problems with are the wort chiller and the kettle: but keep in mind these are really decent products for a VERY good price. The kettle will leak out of the holes where the handles are riveted in, so don't try to fill this thing to the brim with your strike water, I did and got water all over the stove top!

The book is excellent
The bottling tree seems spendy until you actually start using it and realize haw useful it is.
The wort chiller - well - see how much time you save with it, compared to setting the pot in the sink/bath tub. Turn 1 hour into 15 minutes.
A worthwhile upgrade.

As a newbe to the home brewing process I'm glad I went for this upgrade. The brew pot was just the right size and the wort chiller made the process very easy. Can't imagine trying to cool off the wort using a ice bath after using this product. I love the book. It's a easy read and answered all my questions so far. Since I'm just starting off so I had a lot. I felt I got a lot for my money.
