Great blush Review by April

(Posted on 6/17/10)

Product Rating:

This was the first wine that we made....and we were very pleased with the results. It has an excellent fruity taste and a beautiful blush color to it. When we first bottled it, it had some carbonation to it, but within a week of bottling, that was gone. We'll be making another batch of this soon, as we're going through it fast!

Great for holiday gifts Review by James

(Posted on 9/3/10)

Product Rating:

I've made one or two batches for the last few years to give out over the holidays and as Christmas gifts to family and friends, the mailman, garbage collectors, fed-ex guy, neighbors.... Every batch had turned out very good and everyone raves about it especially with a custom holiday label using the wine characteristics. Many have said it tastes exactly like that (the description from this site). It is drinkable in a short time, I have bottled it the week before Christmas and no one complained. Save some for drinking in two years--one French wine connoisseur was over at a holiday party and tried the newly bottled wine and he was honest--he said it's a little rough, no one else knew the difference. I promptly got a bottle from two years prior and he said now this is smooth--and I was pleased.

Easy, but not that tasty Review by Danno

Product Rating:

First off - this needs to be made to the full 6 gallons, so if you're not already set up with a 7.5 gallon fermenter, a 6-gallon carboy, and a tool to stir vigorously in your carboy, you'll need that equipment as well.

The instructions are easy to follow, and it's a quick wine - it's said to not need any aging, so you can be drinking this 4 to 6 weeks after you start it. The kit unmodified makes a very low-alcohol wine - an additional 6 cups of sugar will bring the ABV up to ~9.25%, without any lack of balance there.

It does end up sweeter than most White Zinfandels, with an almost cloying finish, and the F-pack addition adds flavors that seem so contrived as to be almost artificial. It'll work as a summer cooler/patio wine, if it suits your taste (almost like a Boone's Farm, but better than that), but if you're looking for something close to the White Zinfandel that you're used to, you may do better with a different kit.

Great wine for everyday Review by April

(Posted on 10/7/12)

Product Rating:

This has become one of our "staple" wines that we always keep around. Great fruit flavor. Subtle alcohol taste. The first couple weeks after bottling, it has some carbination to it, but after a couple weeks, that is gone and it turns into a great wine.

My First Wine Review by Gary

(Posted on 1/17/13)

Product Rating:

This is my first wine kit. I'm only one week into the process and everything is going well. I read the instructions about 10 times to make sure I understood how everything works. The instructions are clear once you get an understand on the process.

I bought this wine since it's quick to make and pretty much ready to drink when the entire process is complete. Really didn't want to wait too long to try something I made before I make my next batch although I will let many of the bottles age a bit.

It does have lower alcohol content then regular wines. No biggie.

Only complaint ... I found it difficult to take off the cap to the grape juice. I think I need some practice but kinda understand why a decapper is available for sale as well.

Haven't tried the wine yet .... but I'm really excited about this purchase.

Better With Age! Review by Carter

(Posted on 3/1/13)

Product Rating:

I just opened a bottle that I made from this kit back in 2011. Of course it tasted great after it was just made, but having it sit for a year really allowed the flavors to come out! Now all I have to do is figure out how to keep the wine bottled for a year before drinking it all :-)

Summer Salad Wine Review by Connie

(Posted on 3/14/13)

Product Rating:

Goes great with fresh garden salad on a hot summer day. Fruity, refreshing, a little on the sweet side. I like the low alcohol content, so I can have a glass at lunch and get back outside to work.
