Unleash the Beast within . . . Get Ferocious!

If you can handle a huge hop slap in the face, then pour a pint of our Ferocious IPA. Crafted in collusion with Minnesota's own Surly Brewing Co, this brash IPA uses 6 ounces of awesome hops for a bold brew that's barely balanced by a backdrop of toasty, caramel-y malt. It's a fizzy yellow beer drinkers worst nightmare, a hopheads dream, and a smooth full bodied brew so full of flavor you'll wish you'd have brewed more!

Bold hoppy flavor and aroma

Ingredients include:

  • 6 lbs. of Gold liquid malt extract
  • 3.15 lbs. of Amber liquid malt extract
  • 4 oz. of Crystal 50-60L
  • 1 oz. Warrior
  • 2 oz. Amarillo
  • 2 oz. Simcoe
  • 1 oz. Ahtanum hops
  • Yeast
  • Priming sugar
  • Grain bag

We strongly recommend ordering dry yeast in the summer months. We do include complimentary ice packs with all liquid yeasts, but it is difficult to guarantee that the ice packs will survive the trip given transit times and particularly hot temperatures.

Hands Down the Best Beer I've Ever Made! Review by Ryan

(Posted on 4/17/15)

Product Rating:

As the title claims, this is in fact the best beer that I've ever made! I've been brewing to close to 3 years and love every minute of the process. When I first took my first leap into All-grain, I picked this kit first and man was it the best choice I'd ever made! The crisp hop flavor is very well balanced with earthy citrus and a hint of pine just to spice it up and balance. Then the aroma! Oh man... the Ahtanum that you throw in is divine, twisted in with a burst of Amarillo and Simcoe... just perfect. I'm so happy with this one! So happy, I just finished transferring my second batch of this recipe. If you are a hop head and enjoy anything from Bissell Brothers or Maine Beer Co. Lunch IPA, this is a great brewing alternative. Get it!

Perfection in a box. Review by QuadConPana

I live in Florida, where Surly beers are typically unavailable. When a friend got us some Furious, I decided to give this kit a try. I'm relatively new at this hobby. This was probably my eighth batch of beer, and this is the first thing I've ever brewed that I wanted to drink just because of how good it was rather than because of the "I made this myself" effect.

When you reach for your homebrew when there are Hopslams, Doublewides, and Jai Alai's in your fridge, you know it's a good kit.

An "In your face" beer Review by Allen

Very strong wonderful hop aroma. A bit too bitter taste-wise but the aroma is worth it lol. Will sneak up on you after 3-4 bombers. Great beer but a bit bold for my liking. Hop heads will love it.

Great IPA Review by Mike

Product Rating:

This is a great IPA. It is not too hoppy but has enough flavor to be very enjoyable. I kept it in the primary fermenter for about 12 days then racked it to a secondary carboy and kept it in the secondary for about 2 weeks. I tired one bottle after about a week and the taste was great!! I will probably leave it alone for another week or two before sharing with friends and family. Overall Great IPA!!

Ferociously Awesome! Review by Jerry Bishop

Product Rating:

I'm a Hop-Head and brew a lot of IPAs and Pale Ales, both all grain and extract. This kit is simply awesome. Very straight forward but turns out great. Balance is the key for me and this kit is just that. Great hop aroma, bitterness and flavor, but well balanced with a roasted malt backbone and a hint of sweetness in the finish. Do yourself a favor and try this!

What a great IPA!!! Review by Andrew

Excellent IPA. Got this and hop head while they were buy one get one half off I think. I added 12 ounces of cane sugar to bump up the abv, and added some hop additions and this thing came out great. 7.7 abv and 73 IBU. Will brew this one again..

4th of July Review by Tim

(Posted on 7/8/14)

Product Rating:

Made this one for the 4th and everybody loved it so much they wanted me to bring a larger amount for the 5th! These are also people who typically drink things like Coors light and Miller 64, (both were in the fridge) so it definitely made a good impression. Great smell and flavor, very citrusy. Sweet but with a little kick of bitterness at the end. Red in color and not heavy even though its higher gravity. I'm buying this again today even though I'm not out yet! I know there are a lot of 5 star ratings on here, but this one definitely deserves it!
