From Vines to Wines isn't the end-all encyclopedia for wine grape growing, and it's not the end-all encyclopedia for wine making, but if you're looking for a good, throrough introduction to both topics, then this fits the bill. The author's informal, conversational style makes this an easy, enjoyable read, and the flow of the book is very logical. As a new home wine maker, who is also thinking about growing grapes, this book was perfect for me.

If you are interested in growing grapes for your wine, even on a small scale, this is a terrific book. It covers not just how to plant and grow grapes, but how to get the best tasting juice out of your grapes. The book also covers the complete wine making process, so will be useful for all intermediate or above wine makers.

This is a very good book for the beginner grape grower/wine maker. The book is written in a logical order for growing grapes and making wine that is easy to follow. There are good illustrations that help show different trellises and pruning techniques that I found very helpful.
