Did my research, like most of us do. I hit every homebrew website and local homebrew stores. I just took a leap of faith with Midwest and ordered this brewpot. I opted for the Dual Hole Drilled Service, the Deluxe Weldless Kettle Conversion Kit and the Weldless Blichmann Engineering Brewmometer. Why not get everything? Midwest calls it 'Heavy Duty' and it is. The pot has an aluminum clad bottom for better heat distribution. It's a nice, solid, heavy duty brewpot. I'm very happy with this product. Standard shipping via FEDEX took only three days. Put my first stout through this pot....awesome!! To do the job right, get the right tools...buy this pot.

This kettle really is heavy duty. Got the dual hole drill service and bought the brewmometer and got a weldless kit for a ball valve elsewhere. Only complaint is the price, but considering the quality, it's worth it.

I bought this as my primary brew kettle for 5 gallon batches so I won't have boil-over issues. This pot is definitely heavy duty. Brewed my first batch in it this past weekend and worked great !

Still love this after 3 years of use. This is a major step up and worth it for a 5 gallon brewer who is going for all grain. The aluminum clad bottom saves your wort from scorching (a big problem with cheaper units). Not only does the 10gal capacity give you boil headspace -- this allows me to heat all 10gal of sparge liquor while mashing. Do yourself the favor now and get the hole drilled and put a ball valve on this sucker. I don't recommend you transfer by pouring with this one due to its size.

I have been using this pot for about six months and have brewed six batches of beer in it. The construction of this pot is quite good with excellent heat distribution/retention. The size is perfect for full boils of 5-gallon batches. It may cost slightly more than some of the other pots on the market, but it is worth the investment as this pot should last a lifetime of brewing with proper care.

Overall, I really like the pot. I can do 8gal boils with a bit of FermcapS and not worry about any boil overs. I have not scorched the wort ever, and I am using a turkey fryer burner cranked all the way open.
The only drawback of this pot is the width. With it being so wide, there is that much more surface area on the top of the boiling wort to release the steam. I brew in the garage, and typically boil off 1.5 - 2 gallons per hour. That's why I have to start with an 8gal boil. (6gal in the carboy, and 5gal makes it to the keg after a secondary and dry hop).

Awesome for 5 Gallon Batches and more

We've got this with the weldless stainless valve added and it was one of the biggest upgrades we made with our brew. A 5 Gallon Full Boil batch on this beast is easy and safe, and man a full boil is a great upgrade over a partial.
Now that we've moved on to 10 gallon all grain batches in keggles, this has be moved to cleaning duty. We fill it with sanitizer and soak parts/fittings in it and then connect our hoses and pumps to it to run sanitizer through them. If needed, we're always ready to run a 5 gallon batch in this without issue as well.

Went by the reviewers comments after looking around like everyone else did. This pot is a great value product. I could not get a consistent boil like this with my 7 gallon SS pot. The extra room for a 5 gallon batch saved a boil over.
