This is the first Wort Chiller I've bought. It really does cool down my 5 gallon Wort in about 15 minutes. I feed the drain tub into another large kettle and then dump that into my clothes washer as it's already heated water.
I wish it was eaisier to reform as copper would be to make it a bit taller to cool more near the top on my Wort.

Leaks

This chiller leaked from the very first use and no amount of tightening would fix it.I had to use waterproof caulk around the plastic tubes just to get the leaks to a manageable state. Imagine the horror when my brand new chiller started spraying hose water into my wort! Yikes!

I just bought this a few days ago. I'm a new brewer... just put the second batch in the primary last night. I used this chiller to take my 3 gallons of wort from 215+ degrees to around 75 degrees in less than fifteen minutes. All of those people who say copper is the only way to go, are crazy. Save yourself some money and get this one instead. It's easy to clean, sanitize and take care of. Make sure you get a rubber gasket with your chiller, though. Mine came without, so I had to go to the hardware store and buy one for $0.10. Oh well. All in all, very impressed.

I purchased this wort chiller as I was getting tired of the ice bath method and figured it'd pay for itself eventually. It works great and gets 5 gallons of wort down to pitchable temps in 12-15 minutes. It does what it's designed to do, but if I could do it over again, I'd strongly consider the model with standard hose connections for more flexibility & a reasonable step up in quality. The plastic hose is a bit cheap and doesn't really store all that well when connected to the chiller. My next chiller, though, will be a DIY project for sure.

To those who say it leaks -- try turning the pressure down -- Mine leaked when the faucet was at full blast, but you do not need it turned up anywhere near that level. It cooled my wort from 215 - 80 in less than 10 minutes (closer to 5). I did stir the wort constantly during this process, and adjusted the water pressure depending on the temp.
Great product well worth the $50 to cut the chill time down this far.

I've had this one about 2 years now and I love it. Yes, mine did leak when i got too, but all I did was to add another hose clamp in front of the one that was on there and have had no problems since. I would recommend getting the garden hose ends on it if I had to do it again as the tubing does get a good amount of mold growth from regular use. I just pour some bleach in the tubing and run water through it to sterilize just to be safe.

I use to to chill down full 5 gal batches from all grain. A little small but it works great. I can get a full 5 gals down to pitching temps at 70°F in about 15 mins or less. Helps if you take a little ice water and put it in the sink and have your hose coiled up in it to bring the water to near freezing temp. Will help out alot. Leaks a little where it connects to the sink, but I just put a towel over it and it works fine and use the rag to clean up my equipment. Great item, worth the $50. I would go bigger if you are using a 8+gal pot.

I had a chronic problem with this item leaking at the point where the plastic tubing attached to the stainless tubing. I resorted to double clamping the tubing at the attachment point, it still leaked. In my opinion where the 90 degree bends are made the tubing is out of round allowing leakage. I finally returned for a model with garden hose fittings.

Worked great when I whirpooled the wort. 10 minutes of cooling. The only thing that I had to do to it, was to tighten the hose clamps a little bit so it wouldn't leek. All in all, you gotta get yourself one of these.

12 minute chilldown, easy to use, stainless worked just fine, and cleaning was a breeze. It made brewing, so easy I need to buy another fermenter. On my fourth microbrew..... and expect to use it a long time.
