A GREAT book for someone serious about getting into brewing Review by Brett

(Posted on 3/28/11)

Product Rating:

I read this book about 12 years ago when I started brewing beer, and I'll re-read sections of it when I brew beer today. I've also read Charlie Papazian's Complete Joy of Hombrewing and learned a lot from it, but I find Homebrewing Guide way more useful. It contains a lot of technical writing, which maybe a little overwhelming for someone brand new to brewing. This book will cover what a person needs for everything through the "intermediate" level of brewing. The only minus about the book is the fact that it was written a while ago when available homebrewing equipment and ingredients were more limited.

Good how to book Review by Lena

Product Rating:

The authors explanation of the mashing process is one of the best I've seen, and even readers without a chemistry background will understand what's happening during mashing. He also clearly explains what happens during the fermentation process, as well as covering the types of yeasts and how they work.

The author teaches readers how to brew, then gives recipe guidelines for popular styles , giving parameters, but leaving the brewing up you.

Product Rating:

This book contains a lot of good useful and interesting information. I also have Papazians book, and of the two books, I pick this one up more often, and find what I'm looking for more easily.

Take your brewing to the next level Review by Peter

Product Rating:

I got a lot out of this book. I read it when I started extract brewing. I read it when I started with partial mashes. Then read it again when I began all grain brewing. Each time I learned something new. Clear presentation, with step by step instruction.
