I make this whenever I get a chance. Probably the best balanced beer Midwest offers. I compare it to FatTire. You can't go wrong with this one.

Excellent beer that compares favorably to New Belgium's Fat Tire and to William's Red Ale. I will brew this one again.

Really good beer. Nothing like Killians Irish Red. Easy and very good.

I can see why this is the #1 beer kit for starters. Its easy to make and is very good. I've talked to alot of people who have tried Irish Red kits and tried mine and most are disappointed that it doesnt taste similar to Killian's Irish Red. Main reason why is Killian's is a lager and this Irish red is an ale. They use diff yeasts and different ingredients. But non the less it is a good beer to try.

So I had to wait to post my comments. Had to try the Budweiser's Ale. This brew SMOKED IT! Smoother with a roasted pleasant Flavor at the end. Very nice reddish color. Had friends over that like light beers, once they had one I had them hooked.

This was my first beer I ever brewed. It was outstanding. I thought I messed up by having a very light boil but I took the advice of many and decided RDWHAHB! It all worked out and the beer tasted great. I will make this beer again.

I just cracked open a bottle of my first attempt at home brew and I am quite satisfied with the results. I bought the "EVERYTHING + A CARBOY - Complete Brewing Equipment Kit #2" kit, its product number "CPEK2 ". I got the irish red ale kit just with the "muntons 6gm dry yeast" meaning that the yeast comes in a packet like you would use to make bread.
I put the beer in the primary fermenter (plastic bucket) for 1 week, the secondary fermenter (glass carboy) for 12 days (I was eager and didn't want to wait the full two weeks, 14 days) and bottled for 2 weeks. I live in southern california and started the brew in mid December. I didn't even mess with the hydrometer and worrying about gravities. If I can do this so can you.
As I mentioned before I am happy with the results and I am eager to start another batch now that I realize that home brewing is not that hard and relatively easy! The hardest part is sanitizing everything and of course having the patience to wait for the end results. I have given this beer out to quite a few friends and coworkers and have only heard positive comments.

My first kit and the results were great. Friends and family think it stacks up well against Smithwick's and it gets better with aging. Plan to brew it again for St. Paddy's Day.

This was my first home-brew! It was easy and tasted great. If I do this one again, I'll use a liquid yeast (White Labs) I used the Munton's dry yeast on this batch and I think the ferment stopped slightly before it was done because I ended up with a 3% beer. Tasted absolutely great though and when I want to brew another Irish Red, I'm picking this kit again.
