More expensive than the standard HP Kit? umm?

Ok, so the White house Honey porter box has more sepcialty grains is that it? Do the adjunct grains really cost that much more than an additional pound of honey that sits in the standard Midwest Honey Porter Kit?

We brewed this to drink on election night. Easy to make, and easy to drink :-)
Well balanced, clean dry finish, a good porter.

A good, albeit pricey, brew

I have to agree with the other reviewers on this one. It's a good brew, but seems to be on the higher end of pricing for the extract kits. I don't know if it's due to the marketability of the brew in terms of its "political appeal," the grains, or something else, but it's a bit high when compared to similar kits.

Not sure if the package is really worth it cost wise, but it came out pretty good.

A little Hoppy?

Beer tastes good, but it is a quite a bit more hoppy then I would have expected. The honey and dark malts shine through really nice. Great head! If I brew it again I might cut the hops in half.

This porter is ok, maybe a tad on the expensive side. In any case I like it. Its not too hoppy either, just read the directions and you will see that fractions of an ounce are used, and for a shorter boil time.

A Good Porter.

I'm not much of a porter drinker, but I thought this one was pretty good. My girlfriend loved it (she's the dark beer drinker). The honey balances out with the roasted flavor of this kit. This is still a "young" beer, so I can imagine it will only get better.

I was surprised by the note of banana when I pulled the lid the fermenter. Smooth.

More expensive than the regular Honey Porter kit, but well worth it.

I'm very pleased with this kit. I made the kit without changing any of the ingredients/amounts and it turned out to be a very drinkable beer. Good flavor, moderate sweetness - a good session beer. I agree with the earlier reviewer that it tasted great new and can only get better. My only negative comment about it is the price, but I'd brew it again with no hesitation.
