Excellent Amber Ale. The touch of honey rounds it out nicely.

My Brother-in-law and I have brewed this at least 3 times. Good re-producibility. The first batch we made we shared with friends as Christmas gifts. None were returned! (We kept the next batches for ourselves). I like the versatility of adding the honey for shorter or longer boil times depending on the amount of essence you want in the finished product. We've brewed it with the Wyeast Activator Am Ale 1056 & used whirlflock to get a cleaner beer. A very fine amber ale!

This was my first brew and it came out great. My friends and family loved it. I had a little trouble getting the carbonation, but over time it has developed nicely.

This was my second go at homebrew, and this stuff is amazing! Smelled great while boiling, great instructions, and loved the honey. I added it at 15 minutes left, right in the middle. You can definitely taste the honey in the brew. Took a bit to get carbonation, but it cleared very nicely with no Irish moss or anything. Beautiful color, rich taste. This is going fast!!!

This was my first home brew, and it turned out great! Some reviewers had issues with carbonation, but I had no problems with this at all. The honey flavor really ties the brew together. Friends and family are loving it, so it's definitely worth brewing more than once.

This was the 2nd batch I have ever made, and I am going to continue using this kit. I added 3/4 of the honey for flavor, then the remainder for the last two minutes of the boil for aroma, and also dry hopped with some northdown. Wow, it was freakin' awesome, only one 24 oz remains to be drank on my b-day (sadly the others just didn't make it...lol) I should have waited longer than two weeks I'm sure, but it was so good I said screw it and drank them while family was visiting (they loved them too) Long story short it was a great beer, and I will continue brewing it. This was my first Midwest kit, and I will be a returning customer

Good but not great

By the other reviews I was expecting an astonishing beer. It was good, probably a 6/10. I used liquid yeast and the fermentation started almost immediatley which was great. It stopped about 7 days in so I aerated it and then it started fermenting again. The final product was way too sweet. I brewed for 70 mins total and added the honey at 35 mins in so that might have made a difference . I would recommend adding the honey later on in the brew as i felt the beer had a very honey dominant flavor. Also, to offset the sweet taste this beer definitely needs more hops!

Very good beer. It was my first batch of homebrew but it turned out awesome. I followed the instructions but added the honey during the last 15 minutes. I used a secondary fermentation and left it for about a month in the secondary. Don't know if that helped the flavor or not but the beer was really good. I'm very impressed.

Well, I'm sitting here drinking one of my beers. Its been 12 days since I bottled and its an excellent beer! I added the honey during the last 20 minutes, but I feel like the last 15 would have been better. It's not quite as hoppy as I expected so during the next batch I'll add another quarter ounce of Galena hops during boil. Quick note for others out there. I would recommend using Creamy X for the priming solution. The head is astounding when using it! Just another week and this beer is going to be ready for the 4th of July!

6.5% ABV? Woulda bee nice to know...

So I made this per instructions, and questioned the addition of the 1lb of honey to the entire 6lbs of LME, but figured, hey the directions say it so what do I know? Sure enough it made the Original Gravity high and my final ABV is 6.5%, and it tastes rather strong in alcohol, and while it would probably calm down slightly with a few months of maturing, I made it for a camp trip this weekend. Somewhat dissapointed.
I would recommend using only 5lbs of LME + the 1lb of honey, to bring the AB down to the 5ish %. Also the honey was not very good... I tried it and it was very fake tasting and I couldn't stomach another taste; I wouldn't have put that on my toast. Should have tossed it and gotten some from the store.
Overall, not glad I bought this kit. Stick with the Autumn Amber and you'll have a similar but better final result.
