What a fantastic beer this is. Malty and fruity as an IPA should be yet well-balanced. I come back to this kit every year when I want to impress my friends.

I would describe this taste as a peach that slammed into a piece of butterscotch candy. Very tasty and, wow, what a kick! Shamefully, I kept this to myself next time I brew this I'll share.....maybe.

I thought we ran too much sparge water out to the wort, so we boiled it longer to lose some volume. Ended up with 6 gallons in the primary, and we thought it might be a little weak. Primary 8 days. Transferred to two 3 gallon glass carboys for 10 days with dry hop. By the time we lost some volume between the transfer, and removing the leaf hops we had just shy of 5.5 gallons to bottle and it tastes perfect. 7.5% ABV. I compared it to a cask ale I had one time at Northpeak brewery in Traverse City, Michigan. I told Hubbs not to bottle this stuff and lets drink it the way it is! Wishing we would have tried this months ago.

This is for you, if you like Hoppy beer Review by EricB

I enjoy a hoppy beer, but most of the commercial options are overly pungent which takes away from the flavor. Not this recipe, it offers a real nice hoppy taste and aroma, but is still smooth to go down. You will not be disappointed.

This was my first foray into all-grain, and I screwed it up pretty well. Still...this stuff is good! I added some extra grain based on some poorly vetted bad advice & wound up w/a crazy high SG & and ABV of around 10%. Even with all that alcohol this is a tasty treat. I plan on giving it another go.

Product Rating:

This is a REALLY good IPA for hop heads. I ended up splitting up the batch after a secondary and aged half on some medium roasted french oak. I would also recommend using the dry hops from the secondary as bittering for another batch of beer to save some money. The specialty yeast is perfect for pitching into another beer to and well worth the extra couple of bucks.

Tasty but sweet... Review by Rick

Brewed it up about two months ago...missed the taget OG by just a couple points. It's been bottled for just under 4 weeks...cracked one open last night and it tastes pretty good...just a little too sweet for my tastes. I prefer a "drier" IPA....might try mashing at a little lower temp next time. Overall a good recipe...

...the sweetness totally mellowed to make this a very drinkable IPA. doesn't seem like a "double" ipa by any means though. about 7% ABV. would definitely consider brewing again!
