How do your beer equipment kits vary?

Each Midwest equipment kit provides all of the components needed to brew a 5-gallon batch of beer. If you plan on bottling your beer, you'll also want to acquire two cases of pry-top bottles (48 12oz bottles). Read each description to determine which equipment kit is right for you.

Platinum Pro Beer Brewing Starter Kit: A starter kit with everything you need to dive into homebrewing. Discover the hobby that's sweeping the nation with craft brew can-do. Included in the kit is all of the brewing and fermentation equipment required to make your first beer, plus an exclusive seasonal recipe kit to get you back into the swing of warm weather and play hard this summer with homebrew in hand. It includes a kettle, fermentor, bottling equipment, and a recipe kit.

Brewing Starter Kit : Learn and grow. The Brewing Starter Kit has everything you need to begin brewing and hone your techniques. It features easy-to-use equipment and an instructional DVD to walk you through the brewing process. This kit includes some significant equipment to make life easier and help you grow as a brewer, such as an auto-siphon - for easier transferring of your beer - and your choice of 5 gallon glass carboy or plastic Big Mouth Bubbler, which enables you to perform 2-stage fermentation and have two batches of beer fermenting at once. This kit also supports a more effective fermentation schedule known as two-stage fermentation. Two-stage fermentation consists of primary fermentation (Days 1-14) and secondary fermentation (Days 14+). During primary fermentation, most of the alcohol is produced and the majority of solids settle out of solution. Once this is complete, the beer is transferred to a secondary fermentor (a 5 gallon glass carboy or Big Mouth Bubbler). During this step, the beer clarifies and its flavor profile matures. Beer can condition and clarify in the secondary fermenter for weeks or months depending on the style and strength of the beer. We recommend this kit for brewing all types of beers, especially high alcohol or lager beers, which require two-stage fermentation. Pair this kit with any of our recipes and you'll be well on your way to crafting a great beer.

Master Brewer's Equipment Kit with Kegging Setup: This kit is designed for someone who is positive they'll love the hobby of homebrewing or has brewed beer in the past. This equipment kit is for the homebrewer that knows they will be brewing for a long time to come. We start with an all-glass fermentation system, which includes one 6.5 gallon fermenting bucket to serve as your primary, and two 5 gallon carboys so that you can have two batches in the secondary at the same time. Of course there are stoppers and airlocks for all three fermentors, a triplescale hydrometer with test jar and beer thief, 8 oz. of One Step No-rinse Cleanser and an carboy brush. Then we set you up with all of the siphoning items you'll need: a Rack Magic Siphon, siphon tubing, and a 8" funnel. Also includes three Fermometers, so that you can monitor the fermentation temperatures on all of your vessels. We also include a ThermoStar Digital Temperature Controller so that you will be able to brew lagers and keep your kegged homebrew at the optimum temperature. Did we mention that this kit also includes a Draft Brewer Pin Lock Keg System? No more bottling! With this kit, we provide a 5 gallon pin lock keg, dual-guage CO2 regulator, gas lines, liquid lines, and an empty CO2 cylinder. Also includes our instructional homebrewing DVD and "How to Brew" by John Palmer. PLEASE NOTE that if you go with this kit, you will need an extra refrigerator with at least 27 inches of clearance to fit your keg inside. Used refrigerators are easy to find. Check your local want ads; many of our local customers have found them very cheap or even free.
