Great brew tasted great at bottling time Review by Dr. Vijay

Product Rating:

I used Super Moss to keep this beer as clear as possible. Highly recommend it. Used Wyeast, ended up with at sg of 1.062 and fg of 1.01. Nice brown ale with a little kick for the hop heads. I suggest that if you start with a higher SG then make sure you make a starter and make sure you don't under pitch (don't just use the Wyeast Activator that you purchase with your kit). This is often the case any time you have an SG over 1.065. Have fun.

Best beer that I have brewed yet. Review by mrblh

I just poured my first glass of IBA after kegging it last night. This beer has it all! It is smooth, malty, and hoppy (not obnoxiously). It is also strong! My ability to read the specific gravity scale is limited at best, but I believe that this beer was close to a 10% alcohol if that is possible. I just had a half glass after wrestling it away from my wife, and I feel a little giddy. I am definitely getting this one again.

This is a big hit with me and all that have tried this. Review by Michael Brew Master

Killer beer, get it, brew it, drink it before your friends do. Starting sg 1.063 ending 0.099, I figure this is somewhere around 7% acamahol. The strength and amount of hops in this brew I found slightly daunting, but it produced a wonderfully balanced brew. Due to personal affection and popular demand I will be brewing this one again. By the way Dog Fish Head Brewery (of Delaware) produces this beer if you wish to try before you buy.

I was told that this is the best beer I have ever brewed. It's got great complexity, coffee, chocolate, molasses, and a great balance of hop flavor. Thanks for making this kit available.

Just kegged this one... have never had a beer ferment as strongly as this one, had to clear out the airlock a dozen times. Close to 10% abv... I am a big guy and got a nice buzz off only two pints.

Really delicious flavor with some hopiness at the end but not too much.

Excellent spin on an IPA Review by Joey

Product Rating:

I'm a huge fan of IPAs and also brown ales so this seemed like a perfect match. Give it 3-4 weeks in bottles then put them in the fridge for a week and you get a beer with perfect head retention, a strong hop profile and a very nice malt backbone. Then comes a little bit of nuttiness like a brown ale. Excellent beer. Will brew again. Price is a little higher than I would like, but it's not terribly high.

This was my first attempt at a "Big Beer" and it did not disappoint! 3 weeks primary, dry hop in secondary for 10 days. Added fining agents at 7 days. After being bottled for a week it already tastes great. Working this one into the rotation for sure.

My favorite beer! Review by JoeNew2Brew

Product Rating:

This was my first attempt at brewing and the results were outstanding! I started with a full 5 gallon boil and added 1 gallon of water at the end to account for the boil off. I got a sg of 1.082. I was concerned that I didn't have enough yeast to pitch given the reviews I read, but I pitched the Wyeast I purchased with the kit and got an fg of 1.018. Which was in the recommended zone. I gave it 8 days in the primary, dry hopped 14 days in the secondary and 14 days in the bottle. We opened the first bottles last evening and the beer is incredible. It has a very complex caramel, nutty flavor. It is hoppy without being bitter. Overall outstanding. I am going to give it 2 more weeks in the bottle and try it again. I am sure it will only get better.
