How to ship Beer and Wine for Contest Entries:
Alcoholic beverages with alcohol content about 0.5% is not mailable via US Postal Service, so a service such as UPS or FedEx will have to be used.
Midwest recommends the following when shipping Beer or Wine Entries:
  • Use a commercially produced shipping box or a sturdy cardboard box.

  • Box the bottles inside a larger box, surrounding the inner box with packing material and closed-off garbage bag should any damage to the bottles occur during transit.

  • UPS recommends 2 inches if packing material around *each* bottle.

  • Surround each bottle with a couple layers of bubble wrap.

  • Mark the box clearly with "FRAGILE" and "THIS END UP" to avoid breakage.

  • In order to avoid subjecting your entries to extreme temperature fluctuations, ship early in the week. Consider paying extra for express shipping for your top-contender entries.
Consider creatively labelling your package as "Yeast Samples" or "Perishable Food Products" to avoid any beer-shipping legality issues.
