We're drinking a batch I made one year ago, it's been in the bottle 9 months. Wonderful luxorious mouthfeel, complex and fruity. Not sweet, not bone dry. I want to say "Perfect". When I opened the first bottle, tasted it and said to partner "Here, put some in your glass" , she tried it and drank the whole bottle in a couple of hours. You won't be disappointed.
I have another batch bottled 11/30/09 that I added extra oak to, can't wait to see how that turns out.
You can't beat Midwest for cost, either, don't waste your time shopping around.

Awesome wine for the price. Not the full flavor and depth of the 15 liter kits, but for a lower priced kit it was great. I am already making another batch.

I made this before '09 holiday season. Gave about 17 bottles as gifts, got rave reviews (and offers to buy more). Given time in the bottle (much better after 9 months) improves flavor, making the fruit stand out much more than when too young. Agree with BrewDog, Perfect! Not to sweet, not to dry, will please the majority!

I reviewed this in December '09. Since that review, we've been having the extra oak batch and that's good - taking a little longer to mature, as expected, but it's not even a year yet. We made 4 x 6 gallons of this January '10, we loved it so much. Just started gift giving that, and rave feedback all around. Great value! Less than $3 a bottle once you have the equipment. Highly recommend for everyone.

This was my first experience at home wine-making. I'm very pleased with Mezza Luna Red. My son-in-law chose this mix as part of a Christmas present to me (starter kit, etc.) based upon the reviews.....right on!
This has a very nice dark cherry after-taste that really lingers/very pleasing. On the dry side, but a slight sweet hint....overall very nice. I wanted to make another batch since it is going fast, but I tried Liebfraumilch as my second batch and want to try something else too (trying Vintners Reserve Valpolicella style next for something a little sweeter to please the wife).

After 7 months in the bottle, this kit produces a very nice wine equivalent to a good $8 to $12 bottle of red italian table wine. I've very happy.

Letting it lay down awhile. A good red early, hoping for better in a year.

This is not a stuffy pretentious wine; no wine tastings or explanations needed. This wine is what you would expect to be served in small tavernas or bistros in the Mediterranean area. An everyday drink with lots of class.
