This works a lot better than my immersion chiller. At first I had a problem but then I hooked up the water flow so it ran in the opposite direction as the wort flowed and now it cools fast. Faster and saves water too.

This plate chiller works very well at cooling down wort. Depending on the water temperature I slow down the wort feed so the wort is cooled properly. To clean it I blast water through it from both directions right after using, then soak it in PBW. To help sterilize it, I put it in the over when cooking. I've not had a problem with keeping it clean.

Better than an ice bath

It used to take me 60 minutes to cool my wort to pitching temperature. And it was scary lifting 50 pounds of boiling wort.
With this it takes around 5 minutes with my cold tap water. Can't beat that.

I'm impressed with the speed this cooled down boiling wort. It literally turned a near boiling liquid into pitching temperature as fast as I could get the wort to flow through it. I went from a boiling pot, to a filled carboy at pitching temperature in a few minutes.

I can go from boiling to a filled bucket of cool wort in several minutes.
I use gravity to get my wort into my bucket, so the wort flow rate isn't that fast. When I run cold tap water through this plate chiller it cools the wort to almost the same temperature. I keep a 6 inch boil screen around the dip tube so no grit gets in to block the chiller. After using this I'll never use another technique again.
