This isn't a bad malt by any means. I've used it in a porter and stout and achieved a very rich/dark color. Mind you though I did use chocolate malt and other darker variety malts. I find that this malt adds a nicely developed malt flavor to the beer. However, I would almost suggest buying a lighter malt. The reason I suggest this is that you can always add more color to your beer through specialty grains but to take away color is nearly impossible unless you want to just add way too much water to the brew.
