Oatmeal Stout Beer Recipe Kit

This Stout has more body than our Irish Stout with a smoother, slightly sweeter flavor that’s slick in the mouth. A hint of chocolate and oat texture makes this a favorite. This classic stout flavor leaves you wanting more.

  • Full bodied yet smooth and slightly sweet
  • Hints of chocolate and figs, with nutty, grainy flavor from oats
  • Clean, roasted malty flavor and chewy texture
  • Ingredients include: 6 lbs. Dark liquid malt extract, 8 oz. Rolled Oats, 4 oz. Chocolate Malt, 4 oz. Roasted Barley specialty grains, 1 oz. Fuggle pellet hops, yeast, priming sugar and a grain bag

Can't go wrong! Review by Aldany

(Posted on 4/13/14)

Product Rating:

For the simplicity of brewing it, low price and final product. This kit's cost/benefit is a non brainier. The drinkability is superb and it pairs well with almost every dish. Definitely a brew it again kit, just wished it had a bit more roasted flavor. Will consider adding a few ounces of chocolate or roasted barley next time. Also like the suggestion in one of the reviews to roast the oat flakes. But is just right the way it is and pleasing even to people who never had a stout before. As the title of the review says you can't go wrong with this one. Cheers!!

Great Review by Bolars

I followed the instructions for the boil exactly on this one. Two weeks in the primary, 2 weeks in the secondary, then carbed for two weeks. Great flavor and body. It's one of the least expensive extract kits at Midwest, and is a great value for your money.

I brewed this stout and added some cherries to the mix. It ended up being a great combination of awesomeness. Can't wait to let me friends try this.

Gone too soon Review by OHara

Very easy to make kit and the taste is great. I made this with the white labs vial that was started in a 2 liter starter. That really give it a nice clean finish.

Subtle...but good! Review by Ken

Product Rating:

This turned out to be a smooth, subtle stout, but I may try toasted or additional oats a second time around to emphasize its identity. Rather than bottling after adding sugar, I'd love to try kegging on nitrogen.

This is the first batch of beer I have ever made. The instructions were very easy to fallow and the beer turned out great. People with all different kinds of beer preferences enjoyed it. This much success makes me consider going all-grain on the next batch.

Standard Outmeal stout Review by Dan

(Posted on 1/30/14)

Product Rating:

Its a typical oatmeal stout, smooth, with a big head. After making it, I gave it 2 months to mature. Now it's a lot better than when I first brewed it. Try toasting the oats for additional flavor and aroma.

Very good! Review by Mike

I'm new to brewing. This was the 4th kit I've brewed. One week in the primary, and two in the secondary. I couldn't wait and tasted one after a week in the bottle. It was a little green, but tasted good. After two weeks it made a nice head and tasted excellent. I imagine it will just get better with age.

Favorite stout recipe Review by Jord

(Posted on 1/18/14)

Product Rating:

This has been my favorite stout recipe to date. Very smooth beer, good flavor and great mouth feel. I brewed this beer about a year ago and the last couple bottles have been good but I think it hit its prime at about 6 months in the bottle.
