Product Rating:

I never made soda before and decided to try it out. I used some orange juice to kick up the flavor , but it didn't come out all that good.

augment with orange zest Review by OD

Product Rating:

I made this knowing up front its way too sweet. So I cut the sugar in half, added a little honey, and some orange zest, and it came out pretty good.
You don't have to walk off a cliff - it's known the recipe calls for too much sugar, so use less.

Much too sweet Review by Chris

Product Rating:

I used half the sugar, added a little honey, and added real orange peel to give a more well rounded orange taste. It came out all right with the way I made it. I'm not going to make it again.

Works well for soda Review by Brewer

Product Rating:

I use this yeast for carbonating my soda. It always carbonates if you keep it at room temperature. Unlike wine or beer, I've never had a problem with this yeast for soda carbonation.

cough syrup Review by Mary

Product Rating:

I do not like this flavoring. To me, it taste like cough syrup. While trying different methods to adjust for taste, I was unable to please my desire for an good orange soda. I will look at a different brand.

Did not like this much at all. We cut down on sugar to fix helped, but not a cure. We found some cheap pineapple flavoring to mix in with our 2nd was better, but I think the extract is the problem.

Too Sweet for us Review by Revis

Product Rating:

Try reducing the sugar by 1/3 or 1/2. It also needs more orange flavor. Maybe try zesting an orange peel.

Way too sweet Review by Jeff

(Posted on 3/4/12)

Product Rating:

This stuff is so sweet you can barely taste the orange. Maybe it would be better if you added far less sugar than the recipe calls for. It carbonated up just fine and we did boil the sugar water as instructed. We made it the same day we purchased the yeast and let it sit long enough for the yeast to do its work on the sugar.

Nope - don't bother. Review by Danno

Product Rating:

My daughter, who was very eager to make her own orange sodapop, took one sip, wrinkled her nose, and said "cough syrup". After taking a taste, I had to agree.

(This wasn't a problem with fermentation - we made a syrup to add to force-carbonated charged water.)

It'd be drinkable, for very small children who mostly want sweet, but for anyone with a discerning palate, it's not going to be a pleaser.
