New castle style bber Review by OHara

(Posted on 2/28/14)

Product Rating:

It's mild so don't go expecting a thick heavy beer. This is more a session beer, not too strong, but has a nice flavor. The Munich malt adds a nice flavor that makes this above average..

Tasty lower alcohol beer Review by Redmond

This is a work night beer, where you can have one or two for the taste and not end up drinking too much. Partial mashing is the first step from moving from extract brewing to all grain.

Turned out better than expected Review by Jason

Product Rating:

At the very end of my boil got a call that my mother in law was being rushed to the hospital. My father in law is my brew partner so we turned off the burner, put the lid on the pot and left. Even with the slow cooling process and extra hours of the hop bags steaping in the hot wort, this brew turned out great.

Better than New castle Review by OD

Product Rating:

The kit makes a good flavorful session beer. I can drink these after work and be fine in the morning. It's not really like New castle, which is a good thing, because New Castle isn't very good. Partial mashing is a way to get exposed to all grain and you don't need any extra equipment.

This is good beer! I mashed mine at 153* and went with white labs yeast. It came out nice and sweet with a mild chocolate flavor.

This kit makes a good mild brown and I'd brew it again. Its a lighter beer that can be enjoyed at any time. Its a lighter , drinkable brew, and a good session beer. The partial mashing is a good step for extract brewers to get a taste of all grain.

A great tasting dark beer. If you want to advance your skills, PM is the way to go. No need for extra's all in the kit. This one is sure to please.

Drinkable, in the style guidelines Review by Brandon

Product Rating:

After reading the Classic Beer Mild Ale book I was interested in brewing a beer in that style and this kit was what I was looking for. Its mild, with a nice taste and good head retention (from the Carapils). It's a session beer and we can drink quite a few of these. For extract brewers who want to expand their skill, give this kit a try. The partial mashing is something new for you, and the beer is pretty good.

It makes a pretty decent Mild Ale Review by Sanjay

Product Rating:

I just bottled it, and the sip I took was pretty good. The Munich malt gives it a nice and different taste form the traditional American 2 row.
It's a little harder to make than a regular extract kit, or even a Partial mash kit, because it comes with 5 pounds of grain to be mashed. A good kit overall.
