Value Quality Price This is my 8th extract brew kit -- so far the BEST! I started with 1 week in primary, and 4 weeks in secondary. I like how it starts sweet & flavorful hoppiness and then the oak finish. Nice strong punch after a few of these bad boys. This IPA rocks! This is my favorite new extract kit. I'll be brewing 2 batches next time.

Price Value Quality This was one of the first kits I brewed and I consistently go back to it as my main. I have to admit, I've never added the oak chips. The idea of it has never appealed to me. But the brew is delicious. I've brewed it dry hopping cascades in secondary, no dry hops, dry yeast, and liquid yeast. No matter how I brew this beer it's always delicious to me.

Quality Price Value Love this beer! Two weeks in the primary and one month in the secondary. Experimentally, I added 4 oz. corn sugar in the secondary and it fermented out completely. After one month in the bottle it tastes fantastic. Hop aroma and flavour where I like it. Packs a punch. I think I am at about 10-11% ABV. One 22 is perfect.

Quality Price Value This is my first brew... I had it in the primary for 2 weeks, secondary for a week, now in the bottle for 2 weeks. I opened it after one week and it was well carbonated(maybe a little too much at first) and a little green. After the second week it is really well rounded and leaves a brief hoppy finish then clean away. Great beer to sip and enjoy the deep flavors.

Price Value Quality Brewed by the directions but added 1 oz Cascade dry hops, and turned out almost exactly like New Belgium's "Ranger IPA." Great hop aroma and flavor, and can taste the oak chips. My best beer to date and will definitely brew again, but does pack a punch after 3 beers. Thanks Midwest!

Quality Price Value This was my fourth batch, and it is better than my first three. I tried one prematurely and it tasted like oak chips. After sitting around another week or two, it is pretty damn good. My main complaint is that I was expecting a much hoppier beer for an IPA. Still, it's a good beer.

Value Quality Price I added the oak chips (boiled sadly in water only) and can taste them. Slightly reminds me of bourbon...maybe. Its a different gentle flavor mildly pleasing. I think I'll have another while trying to describe the complicated bouquet of flavors. I have brewed 8 or so kits, I'm glad I bought this one, but currently I love the Midwest Double IPA. It has a stronger hop bite. I do believe the Octane IPA lives up to the Octane part of its name...beware!

Price Value Quality Excellent kit. This is, so far, my favorite kit from Midwest.
For new homebrewers, would recommend Octane IPA as a good follow up the Midwest Irish Red Ale Kit...differences in hop effect and alcohol content are quickly
apparent.
Personal Improvements: Added tsp Irish moss 45' into boil. Seasoned/disinfected the oak chips by soaking for 1 week in 1/2 Cup Jameson's. Added the oak chips to secondary while drinking the Jameson's. Storage of bottles for 4 weeks gave a really good beer
