Drips, but works

It takes two pulls to get enough liquid for a reading. Two pulls gets you exactly 1/2 cup, which is enough for my hydrometer.
Keep your cup right next to the mouth of your carboy, because this sucker leaks big time, you must move fast.

I wish I had seen the other review before I bought - I agree it takes a couple of pulls and it leaks/drips alot. I had mine soaked with sanitizer prior to using, so I'm hoping I didn't contaminate my wort when I took the samples for OG reading. I'm really disappointed it drips. I may have to get a brush to make sure the inside is clean in future uses.

Works better than my turkey baster

Better reach than my turkey baster, leaks about as much. Takes about three pulls for my hydrometer sample. Don't take samples over the carpet.

Kind of clumsy

Seemed like a good idea at the time but I almost never use it anymore in favor of other methods of theifing.
The baster doesn't really hold pressure so it instantly starts leaking when you pull a sample (have to be quick). Ends up making a little mess. You need two pulls to get a good reading for your hydrometer. The shaft of the baster is so friggin heavy that sometimes it just slips out of the squeezy part. Eh, I deal with it though. I might invest in a Fermtech Wine Thief though.

This baster works alright. It does tend to drip a little. I really like the stainless steel aspect though, easy to clean and it will last forever.

This works but like already mentioned it tends to drip a bit. Not a huge problem. I picked this up to replace the plastic one I had just so I could make sure it was clean. Never really trusted the plastic one.

This will last, and wont get scratched, making it hard to clean.
Each squirt is 2 around ounces. It drips, so make sure your vessel is close by.

At first it wouldn't hold much at all and was leaking out. After messing around I found if you line up the ribs in the ball with the indent at the top of the tube

Really Not Needed

I purchased this because it is durable and easy to clean however it's sunction is not that great and it is just too large. After becomming more experienced with all grain brewing and slowly perfecting my way of making better beer with each batch I find it much easier to fill up my hydrometer tube holder from the actual brew kettle which is equipped with a spigot valve. I use clear tubing to collect the sample so this baster is no longer needed. It is quite a fancy looking item which now just takes up space. If you decide to purchase this it will never wear out since it is made of a thick mil of stainless steel.
