I run it at low speed and pause it, alternating , and get good results, with no residual CO2 so my wines aren't fizzy.

Run it slowly Review by Sample

Product Rating:

I have it on a low speed drill and run it slowly so it doesn't whip up a froth. It works well and after an initial release of CO2 that was dissolved, it was calm.

I use a special low speed drill and run it on the lowest setting for a minute. Then I pause and run it again for a minute.

Works very well Review by John

The whip degasser works very well. It usually only takes a couple of minutes to degass using a simple cordless drill. Be very careful not to hit the sides. In glass you can break the whip and on the very rare occasion the carboy and in plastic you can scratch the plastic which gives you a nice little space for bacteria to grow. I alternate direction to keep it from overflowing and sucking too much oxygen down into the wine.

Don't run it too fast Review by Redmond

If you over do it you will Oxygenate your wine. I used a drill and ran it too fast. I manged to make a mess and Oxygenate my wine. Then I got a slower drill and it worked fine.

remove the bung Review by OD

Product Rating:

If you remove the bung (as I was warned) and run it on a low speed drill for a short while, it will do a good job degassing your wine. Just be careful not to splash because you don't want to Oxygenate your wine.

Get rid of the bung Review by Drew

Product Rating:

Remove the bung and run it very slowly in a low speed drill so you don't oxygenate it, and it will be effective at degassing your wine. Above all else, don't churn the wine, and you'll be fine.

Works Great! Review by TIrrera

Works really good at degassing, but make sure you keep the RPM's down or you'll have a fountain! Also works great for aerating wort rather than shaking the @#$% out of it!

It works well once you remove the rubber stopper Review by Dro

Spin it at low speed, for a short time, and it does a good job of degassing. It can also be used for mining your ingredients in the beginning. A longer shank would be nice.

A simple solution to de-gassing. Bought this after my first attempt at wine making. Second go was a breeze compared to manual stirring.
