Universal Beer Agar is a basal medium to which beer is added. The characteristics of Universal Beer Agar are closer to the natural environmental conditions found in the typical brewery. It supports growth of more varieties of lactic acid bacteria and yields larger colonies in a shorter time than traditional brewers medium. Due to the presence of beer in the medium, it is selective for growth of microorganisms that have adapted themselves to existent conditions in the brewery.

I tried this and don't see any benefit of regular, and less expensive Agar. This is a good product, it works, I just think its expensive.

This is a great product and it works well. I'd recommend to anyone looking to make slants for yeast storage.

I have had success culturing yeast using this Agar. This is a good product, it works,but its expensive. The nice thing about Universal Beer Agar is that its a full mix with no need for separate bottles for additional nutrients.
