Using this product is like watching the grass grow

I would not recommend this product. It's gravity fed, so there is nothing, other than gravity pressuring the wine through the filter. From my experience, it filters at a rate of about one gallon per hour. It is so slow, it is like watching the grass grow. Plan on taking an entire afternoon to filter a six gallon carboy.

Great job if you don't mind slow

For those of us who make wine one batch at a time and cannot justify investing in a motorized filtration system, this little unit does the job just fine. When the flow rate slows down you will need to change the filter pad to get it going again. In order to filter six gallons, you'll probably go through three pads. All in all, my wine came through crystal clear, so I would have to recommend this product, particularly to the beginner.

Good base priced Filter

I have had great luck with this product. It works quite well if you are not in a hurry.
It is really slow, but provides a clear product. I would recommend purchasing a extra pack or two of filters, depending on how much wine you have to clear and how cloudy it is, it may take a couple of filters per gallon. Now I make a lot of fruit wines(sandplum, blackberry, strawberry etc) so I deal with a lot more haze than someone who makes a grape wine. I have noticed this can also take some of the color out of your wine, but not bad. All in all for the price, I'm really happy with it.
So unless you can afford a faster filter system, this is the way to go.

it is slow, though nothing like a gallon an hour as someone else reported. If the wine is fined before-hand, it takes me about 30-45 minutes for 6 gallons, red or white.
Now, I do have issues with it.
1) Splashing. I inserted a long piece of poly pipe into the output end so the wine would go to the bottle of the carboy with minimum splashing and therefore a little less exposure to O2.
2) It is too expensive, given what you actually get, a few dollars worth of plastic moldings. This should be $20 retail.

Worth the price but dont expect the same as a mechanical filter

I hve used this filter several times and it does do a reasonable job of polishing my mead. It is slow and somewhat of a two person job but its not hard to use.
I have found that instead of running two gallons of water through the filters that for me it works just as well to soak it in my cleaning solution (1 step solution) and not waste the time waiting for two gallons to pass through...
What I dont like at all is the only option is to allow your wine to be exposed to the air as the bottom outlet does not accept hose and the liquid is exposed to wild yeast and the like.
I bought it living on a budget and it works... I have since bought the Buon Vino Mini Jet which smokes it in every way..
Would I buy it again? Yes.. but I still hate the potential oxidization caused by how its built to function.

This filter is slow, but nowhere near the 1 gallon per hour someone else said. It depends on how cloudy your wine is, but I do 6 gallons of red in 40 mins. It does what it’s supposed to and I have no complaints. If you’re expecting mini jet type performance for $40 you’re a fool and will be sorely disappointed.

I was a little disappointed with this product while filtering 5 gallons of mead. While it did do its job very well, it took about 4 hours and 3 filters. I now think this may be due to me not allowing enough time for it to clear on its own before filtering.
I just finished 5 gallons of blackberry wine with this filter, which I was a little more patient about letting sediment settle out of before filtering. The entire process took about 35 minutes and only 1 filter! Results are beautiful!

I was a little skeptical about purchasing this item. After I started filtering my strawberry wine, I was amazed. The clarity of the wine was unbelievable. This products worked fairly fast for being gravity fed. It slowed down once the pad filled up, but I replaced the pad and presto back to buisiness. The price and qulity are unbeatable.
