This product worked well the first time I brewed. I was informed from a fellow brewer that you shouldn't over tighten it, however I had a slight leak. I tighten it up with no problems. Just make sure to test the seal before you start brewing :)
The strainer that attaches inside your kettle it isn't overly fine, if you're looking for a fine mesh strainer you might want to buy it separately. This one still works fine for me.

I was very impressed with the item, I purchased two installed the in a i/2 keg and a 7 1/2 gallon brew pot , neither leaks.
I also purchased from Midwest a 12" boil screen and attached it to the unit in the 1/2 keg, plan on brewing an all grain Oktoberfest Lager that I also purchased from Midwest and using the screen in batch sparging . As all products I purchase from Midwest quality seems to be their gold.

Drilling into a stainless brew pot was EASY. This coupled with the 6" boil screen does a great job filtering out whole hops.
If I ever buy a brew pot with out a valve, I will buy this valve again. Doesn't leak, is VERY sturdy and should you need to take it apart to clean it, it's very easy. However, I have never taken mine apart to clean it.

Drill a hole and screw it in tight, done, took me 1 minute to attach. I've never had a leak. Very satisfied. The handle has a covering so you wont get burned turning it, just be sure to use a heat shield (scrap metal rectangle) so it doesn't melt.

This is good value for all valves I looked at. It took me just a few minutes to install this valve with a stainless barb and boil screen. It fits perfectly.

This all-in-one setup is perfect for the keggle! Easy to install and no leaks.
The bulkhead is super nice for screwing in the boil screens which work great to keep hops out of the fermentor or as false bottom for your mash tun.
Rubber O-rings are very durable and stand up to the heat of the boil and to being tightened down.
No worries about the brass. Mix a 4 parts vinegar to 1 part hydrogen peroxide, let the brass sit in the solution for 4 minutes and done. The brass is pickled and will not leech out lead.
