Evolved to be picked up and carried about by birds in order to spread its seeds, the wild Tepin chile (aka bird eye pepper, chiltepin) is small and berry-shaped. Don’t let its size fool you, these cute little chilies pack a serious punch. Though it still being debated, many people feel that tepin chiles offer more brief heat then other varieties, fading away after an intense period rather than smouldering.

This is a really hot pepper. I don't care if it "fades" quickly, its super hot. I used this in a chicken sauce but I wont make it again.

These are seriously hot. I actually spend a little time trying to remove some of the seeds, to hold them out. The aroma and taste are fantastic though. I made a hot sauce with the peppers, some garlic cloves,cider vinegar, sweet paprika, and a little xanthan gum.
Its a killer sauce that I will be making again.
I recommend getting some xanthan gum to use with these peppers.

The peppers are really hot, but if you cook them it mellows the spiciness. They have a nice taste too, and go great with chicken.
