Too Sweet Review by JR

(Posted on 8/4/11)

Product Rating:

Tried this one twice. Should have learned my lesson after the first one. Both times it stopped fermenting at SG 1.006 creating a too sweet Chardonnay.

Have used Vintners Reserve Chardonnay kits and they worked fine.

Reported this to Midwest and they did nothing but imply it was my fault.

Great Review by Bob

Product Rating:

This one turned out great for me. Fermented completely. Only problem was it went too fast. Have made the Chardonnay/Torrontes with great results as well. I have tried many of these kits and have never been disappointed.

Turned out excellent Review by John Bushell

Product Rating:

I didn't have any problem with the fermenting process, however, it did take a couple of days longer than most other kits I've made. It was probably due to the fermenting area being a little cooler than normal. The wine cleared good and I've gotten complements on it's taste. So I'm satisified and would purchase it again.

Consistently good Review by OldSalt

Product Rating:

I have made many batches of this wine and they were all consistently good.

Improved on the instructions, though:
Day 1: start in primary bucket (I add 2 oz of american oak in addition to the french oak provided)
Day 5: transfer to 6 gallon glass carboy with airlock
Day 20: fine and stabilize
Day 40: rack to better bottle carboy with airlock
Day 90: bottle

Never fails for me.

Fairly good, maybe a little on the sweet side Review by Sanjay

Product Rating:

It has a ripe melon flavor and we like it. The oak adds another dimension to the taste. I used yeast nutrient to make sure it fermented properly. I would make this kit again.

Pretty nice wine Review by Jude

Product Rating:

Maybe a little on the sweet side, but overall it came out nice, and I like how teh oak flavor came through. I've tried a few of these kits and have never been disappointed.

Product Rating:

This is a very fruity wine.... I taste peach in mine. The kit is easy to brew. Just be sure to let it age for about 4 months before drinking.
