Wyeast developed this blend of vitamins, nitrogen compounds, minerals, zinc and amino acids to help you ensure that fermentation starts quickly and ferments completely. Results in a reduced lag time, more consistent attenuation, and better yeast germination. Add 1/8 teaspoon per pint for a yeast starter, or 1/2 teaspoon per five gallons of wort. Dissolve Wyeast Nutrient in warm water. Add solution to kettle 10-15 minutes prior to end of boil.

I have been using this since I began brewing. I haven't done any scientific experiments with this nutrient so I don't really have a way tp determine the products efficacy.
I have always had active fermentation for at least 24 hours.

I've used this in my last 6 brews. I've seen much shorter lag time and healthier (?) fermentation. This is a must in the brew I make for my wife (5 lbs honey, 5 of maple syrup, 6 lb malt extract, 5 lbs of mashed grains) Feed them Yeast!!!

I've brewed this beer before.. same yeast, same grains, same temperatures... The lag time was over 24 hours quicker, and this batch is blowing off foam hard (which has never happened). I think its safe to say this nutrient works.

Made my first yeast starter for my first lager and I have fermentation going on. Success.

Also added a 1/2 tsp straight to the wort for the last 10 minutes of boil. That ale has the most active yeast culture I've ever witnessed. I've brewed great beers without this but for it's price and effectiveness it's nice to have around.

Tastes awful though.
